Most teams we speak to are sending three campaigns a month and zero automations.

The gap is not strategy. It is the assumption that automation needs to be complicated to be worth building.

Three flows do most of the work for most programmes:

1. A welcome series that earns trust in the first seven days
2. A re-engagement sequence for subscribers going quiet
3. A post-purchase or post-signup flow that closes the loop

That is it. Three flows running in the background, doing the work your campaigns cannot, without anyone having to touch them every week.

If you are sending campaigns and nothing else, you are leaving the easiest wins on the table.

Full breakdown of all three flows in our new article. Link in comments.

Write your next email to one real person. Then take their name out.

What is left will almost always read more naturally than anything you would have written to 'your subscribers.'
Specificity is what makes an email feel personal. Not merge tags.

Click behaviour by content type is more useful than overall click rate. Here is why. Your overall click rate tells you how a campaign performed.

Which links got clicked, and which were ignored, tells you something far more specific: what your audience actually came for.

If one content block is consistently skipped across multiple campaigns, that is not a testing variable. That is your audience telling you something about that type of content.

If a particular topic drives clicks every time, that is what they signed up for.

Your click data from the last eight campaigns is a content brief. Most senders plan content based on what they want to say. The better question is what your audience has already shown they want to hear.

Two voices. One inbox. Zero fluff.

Every Tuesday, our COO Pauline shares Fuelling Success: a weekly read on what's actually working in email right now. Tactics, observations, the occasional reframe. The kind of thing you forward to someone on your team.

Once a month, our CEO Spiro adds From My Desk to Yours: longer-form thinking on building a business, leading a team, and the realities of running an email platform that's been in the game for years.

No pitch loop. No daily noise. Just two people in this industry sharing what they're learning, on a schedule you can rely on.

5 signals your email list is quietly hurting your results.

1. Open rates declining over 3+ months
2. Soft bounces increasing steadily
3. Best campaigns performing worse than before
4. Spam complaint rates creeping up
5. A large proportion of your list has never engaged at all

None of these is a crisis alone. All of them together are a pattern.

Link in comments for what each signal means and what to do about it.

Your sign-up page is not a form. It is the first moment a subscriber decides whether to trust you.

Most sign-up pages answer none of the questions a potential subscriber is actually asking:

❓What am I actually getting here?
📅 How often will it arrive?
✒️ Who is writing this, and why should I listen to them?

Get this wrong and you collect addresses from people who barely remember signing up. Then you spend months emailing people who are indifferent.

Get it right and every metric downstream improves: better opens, better clicks, fewer unsubscribes.
