Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com My name is Lizette Van der Merwe and I have been drawing since before I could walk. I am fortunate enough to have parents who have always encouraged my creativity and accepted my desire to grow and expand as an artist. I'd always known I'd wanted to be some kind of artist, I just didn't know what kind. So, I'd exp
erimented with various forms of art-making throughout all of my years - ranging from traditional mediums such as painting and ceramics all the way through to digital art, motion graphics and animations. I studied for four years at the Pearson Institute in Durbanville and have my Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. I double-majored in Advertising and Multimedia. Yet I am always interested in learning something new and I am forever experimenting with different ways in which I could make myself better. I'm an introverted person and I absolutely thrive on art and design. My technique of drawing tends to be quite rough and I usually don't like erasing any of the lines I'd made. Mark-making is a big part of what I'd built my style around and I fell in love with the idea of capturing the complete raw, honest and organic process of creating an artwork from start all the way through to the finished product. Coupled with this, I also love water colours. I'm forever experimenting with paint and making splatters and incorporating them into drawings and digital paintings. I love the fact that it's a lucky-packet kind of deal: you never really know what you're going to end up with. The result is something you don;t have complete control over and that in itself tends to leave me with the best pieces. I can go on for hours about my style of art and design, but I will leave it at that. If you wish to get more information or have an idea in your head which you wish to put into a reality, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'd absolutely LOVE to hear from you!
