GROLSCH TRUE CHARACTER BAR

Studio 4332 realized a seriously top brand activation for Grolsch at Design Indaba. We assisted the agency with the creation of a 360 circular feature bar and the activation aspect of the campaign including promoters to engage with visitors. As a key sponsor of Design Indaba the Dutch beer needed innovative and especially creative elements to showcase their craftsmanship, artistry and creative spirit of the brand.

Revealing your True Character was the theme of the campaign extending through-the-line. A series of animated facial features were designed by illustrator Minky Stapelton which was incorporated into the theme. The substantial bar was located advantageously in the centre of the event and easily accessible. Large animated heads were rigged from the ceiling of the CTICC and drew attention to the area from a distance.

Patrons were served Grolsch at the striking bar and participated in lock- art as they consumed the beverage. Some of the bottles were filled with water at different levels and suspended from the canopy of the bar area to create musical notes and a UCT Professor of music played visitors a tune. Our branded promoters engaged with Design Indaba delegates using iPad apps and encouraged them to express their own true character and identity by selecting from a choice of over 200 facial features from the animated characters. These characters were uploaded to individuals’ pages and the cream of the crop to the Grolsch page.

Some promoters created quite a stir as they engaged with visitors in a really fun way in the conference and around the expo adorning large animated heads. Other activities included swing-top challenges and eco-friendly prizes. Our promoters also welcomed delegates to the Design Indaba after party which took place at Trinity in Green Point. Grolsch dates back to 1800 and is now a part of the SABMiller group. The distinctively shaped bottle and unique swing-top cap eliminates the need for an opener as the bottles are opened by hand using a lever at the side of the bottleneck.

MERCEDES-BENZ DEALERSHIP CONCEPT

The intention was to increase visitors to Mercedes-Benz dealerships in an attempt to drive vehicle sales and brand awareness. The revolutionary technology based proposal was the brainchild of a partnership between Network BBDO, Pixel Project and ourselves. The strategy included dealership specific digital installations; integrated nationwide content management and distribution systems and social media.

The dealership specific installations meant that most of the applications would be digital and virtual and quite advanced for the South African motor industry. Visitors and potential buyers could benefit from a physical or remote experience of current and exciting information with Mercedes-Benz and their stunning vehicles. The campaign extended over digital platforms including: live video store maps; digital vehicle info stands; touch screen units; augmented reality tablets; freestanding projectors; after hours window projection; real time live we**am control; virtual test drives and OLED strips for twitter and other messaging media.

The content management and distribution systems were designed to be unified allowing hardware and software to easily be monitored or scheduled. Social media was included in the proposal to build networks, communities and ultimately new opportunities. The extraordinary engagement concept represents the range of vehicles, provides product technical specifications and assists the potential buyer with the decision making process. Definitely a different kind of speed for Merc.

MOCKE OCEAN GEAR AT PADDLE EXPO GERMANY

XZIBIT MARKETING recently assisted Mocke Paddling with their exhibition that took place at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre in Germany. PADDLEexpo was an ideal event for Mocke to launch their range of paddling products to international dealers and retailers.
Dawid and Nikki Mocke, world champion paddlers from Fish Hoek, South Africa, founded the SA brand. Their sporting careers started on the beach and in the surf as “Nipper” lifesavers, and progressed until representing South Africa in Surf Lifesaving. Dawid has won four World Surfski Series titles while Nikki has won world titles in Surf Lifesaving, Canoe Marathon and the World Surfski Series. She is also a 2008 Olympian placing seventh in the K4 500m final.

Mocke’s slogan, "Passion Precedes Purpose", is so appropriate for the family business as their philosophy encourages people to pursue their passions and live their best life. Dawid also facilitates paddle workshops and coaching for performance enhancement.

PADDLEexpo is an exclusive paddle sports trade fair where the newest products and trends are featured. XZIBIT Marketing designed and provided a portable exhibition stand which included branding and product merchandising for the custom-designed lifejackets, apparel and accessories on offer. The stand was transported abroad and easily installed by the Mocke team at the expo.

FNB FUTURE LEAGUE GRADUATE PROGRAMME

Africa's leading bank challenged us to design an innovative environment for the promotion of their future league graduate programme.

The programme provides wonderful career opportunities for students in IT, engineering and commerce. Particular aspects of employment are experienced through personal interaction with the FNB executive team amongst others and they receive a better understanding of the company and it's culture as they are based in office for a period. We designed a game show in order to attract students to apply for the future league of innovators programme and also play an online game in order to qualify.

The set included a professional environment complete with game show host and playoffs with other students. Participants were targeted regionally through a roadshow and then were selected to play against each other on set. A series of final live questions were answered resulting in the grand finale at Bank City. The overall lucky winner took home a holiday for two and secured a place on the prestigious league of innovators.

XZIBIT created an engaging environment to showcase an exciting new product range for ASICS. The Speed Trio Pack – Dynaflyte TM, Noosa FF TM and DS Trainer 22 TM running shoes were available to seasoned runners and other sports enthusiasts participating in the Two Oceans Marathon.

The marketing campaign: “Don’t Run, Fly” was illustrated throughout the activation area through product suspension concepts, clever lighting and the use of illuminated materials to draw attention to the state-of-the-art running shoes and new reflective Lite-show TM apparel.

Runners enjoyed the advanced 3D Foot Mapping System linked to a treadmill for analyses using laser and micro cameras.

GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA

The brief was to conceptualise experiential zones for delegate engagement at the annual GBCSA convention under the conference theme 'Dare to Lead'.

We produced various spaces that enhanced the delegate experience beginning with registration and leading into the GBCSA lounge focal area.

Eco-friendly materials were a manufacture prerequisite so we used a combination of sustainable wood, environmentally friendly inks, energy saving lighting and greenery. Delegates were able to charge their devices in a fun way by peddling on bicycles that we purchased from Qhubeka (a South African not-for-profit organisation that donates bicycles as part of the World Bicycle Relief's charity programme in South Africa).

The bicycle was donated to the organisation post the event in a further attempt of giving back into the community initiative. Other areas included a 'truth or dare' area where delegates were encouraged to write down their sustainable initiatives implemented within their organisations and then were challenged to implement others. The Lafarge coffee and donut area was extremely popular with an appropriate theme 'dare to dunk'. Delegates held personal meetings with speakers and also networked in the dome shaped meeting pod that formed part of the GBCSA central lounge area. The overall environment enhanced the convention experience and contributed towards reinforcing key ideas towards sustainability.

MOBILE BUBBLY BAR FOR PONGRACZ

Pongracz popped up at the Franschhoek Champagne and Bubbly Festival in their premium mobile bubbly bar.

XZIBIT designed and produced a mobile marketing trailer complete with refrigeration, stock holding, display areas, a bar counter for sales and tastings as well as space inside for promoters and staff. The trailer easily attaches to a vehicle and provides an opportune branding platform for the brand while on the road and in-between events.

The marketing initiative also allows for a practical presence and consumer engagement in a bold and elegant way.
We designed the mobile bar with design inspiration taken from high-end textures and finishes. The design included gold edging and high gloss finishes with black timber incorporating subtle gold detailing in line with the brand CI.

LINDT EASTER WONDERLAND

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt would take place in the magical garden. A set was made for both Cavendish Square in Cape Town and Fourways Mall in Johannesburg.

The focal point of the magical garden is the golden willow tree with every effort been taken to make all the other elements as realistic as possible. Lindt Gold Bunny minis were hidden in the garden and groups of children were give baskets and sent on a fun hunt within the garden.

A photo booth was created featuring a swing. The agency used the photo booth to run a social media campaign, the public were encouraged to take photographs of themselves and upload these to various social media platforms using the hashtag

XZIBIT provided event design and architecture for the DELL EMC forum that took place at Sandton Convention Centre. The functional delegate registration area included backdrops, point-of-contact, AV and support services.

The overall event design conformed to the convention theme and provided suitable spaces for delegate interaction. XZIBIT provided diverse event spaces including sponsor exhibition areas and exhibitor booths. An exciting delegate experience contributes towards a successful convention.

XZIBIT provides practical delegate charging stations and VR spaces to stay on trend and enhance the environment. The right kind of seating and pause areas provide comfort during convention breaks. XZIBIT provides furniture styling for lounge areas, seating pods and some fun activation elements. Information areas should be easily accessible to delegates and provide relevant data services.

BAINS AT WHISKY LIVE

Bains commissioned XZIBIT to create an experience inspired by the natural purity of Bains Cape Mountain Whisky. The main objective was to bring through the feeling of being rejuvenated, refocused and reconnected through a sensory experience.

The naturally pure theme was brought through by two waterfall features on either side of the exhibition stand entrance. These created a tranquil environment. The waterfall activation was also brought to life through the use of a waterfall projection, forming the central bar backdrop feature.

The activation was further enhanced by the display of the tasting notes featured in glass jars, which attendees were encouraged to smell, therefore embracing the essences found in Bains Whisky. These included toffee, vanilla, floral, spice, grain, wood chips and new market spirit.

Other design details included a bronze mirror backwall, copper pendant lights, a geometric sculpted bar, wooden slatted detailing as well as a beautiful chevron pattern wooden floor.

XZIBIT was also responsible for the brand activators who led the whisky tasting and pairing with charm. The overall experience was one of relaxation and rejuvenation, bringing through the Bains brand authenticity.

HUNTERS HEAT SEEKERS BRAND ACTIVATION

XZIBIT created a unique experience for the activation zones of the Hunters Heat Seekers event that took place in Durban, JHB and Cape Town. The objective was to showcase Hunters as a premium cider and to launch a series of summer concerts to audiences around SA.

The cider range: Hunters Dry, Hunters Gold and Hunters Extreme were uniquely presented in outdoor dome structures where concertgoers enjoyed brand engagement. Brand attributes and personality were individually communicated in three zones.
Each environment included specific styling details, branding, powerful lighting, specific colour palettes, customised furniture and a service bar. Top SA artists performed centre stage and Hunter's fans participated in exciting activations including cider pong, Instabooth, buzz wire, face painting, t-shirt printing, beat box sounds, a colouring in wall and even live barber services.

L'OREAL SHARING BEAUTY WITH ALL

XZIBIT produced a digitally engaging exhibition environment for L’Oreal at the 60th edition of The Global Summit of the Consumer Goods Forum, which took place at the CTICC.

The exhibit provided a key positioning platform for the brand as their new strategic concepts were displayed and the ‘Sharing Beauty with All’ campaign was personalized.

The designer stand included natural flowing curves and organic shapes within the detailed spaces.

The MUG application was used to personalize the make-up experience using digital and interactive technology.

The high-end, dynamic look-and-feel encouraged iPad delegate participation with L’Oreal’s products. A seamless screen concept featured and provided eye-catching visuals while communicating the brand’s image powerfully.

With more than 800 delegates from 50 countries, the summit discussed key industry issues, highlighted the potential of emerging markets and shared powerful lessons from leaders from established and new business models.
