If you’re one of the few small businesses that are not yet plugged into social media, you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. Do you really need to use it, or can you just get by with an optimized website and an e-newsletter? The short answer is yes, you need social media – at least you do if you want to reach customers and stay competitive. Here are just a few reasons why social media is

so important for small businesses. This means that chances are much of your target market is already using social media. If you want to reach clients and prospects, you need to be where they are – by using social media you’ll increase the odds that your marketing message will get through to a significant number of them. It will give you a competitive advantage. Even though you may not be using social media, your competitors probably are. If that’s the case, you’ll want to add it to your marketing strategy ASAP, or risk falling behind. And if your competitors haven’t yet ventured into social media, rejoice – you can get a leg up on them by taking advantage of this marketing channel before they do. It will help you connect with your clients and prospects. Most marketing channels are one-way in nature – a business sends out its marketing message, and the consumer receives it. With social media, you can actually have a conversation. Social media helps to create a community of fans and followers that see you as more than just a business entity. They’ll view you as someone they trust, and people buy from those they trust. Social media isn’t just for the big boys – it’s a valuable marketing tool for small businesses, as well. It’s here to stay – at least for the foreseeable future – so take the leap and reap the many rewards it offers. Visual Marketing is defined as "the use of static brand images to enhance awareness and increase recognition in the mind of the consumer."Visual Marketing is the most subconscious form of marketing, and differs from other marketing techniques.Harnessing the power of images and visuals will make your marketing more powerful and more memorable. Images — when done deftly –can turn concepts and intangible things into something concrete. That helps people envision your brand and your message in their mind’s eye — and remember you when it comes times to buy. For small businesses, that’s particularly important. We don’t have a lot of money, time or staff to spend on marketing. So everything we do has to pack a punch.

Meta has begun laying off around 8,000 employees, roughly 10% of its workforce, as part of a major restructuring linked to its aggressive push into AI.

At the same time, thousands of roles are being moved into new AI-focused teams, showing how rapidly the company is reshaping itself around artificial intelligence and long-term infrastructure investment.

Internal communications confirm that affected employees were notified via email, with details covering severance packages, benefits, and immediate access changes in some cases.

This is another reminder of how fast the tech landscape is shifting. Behind every restructure are real people, real careers, and real families impacted overnight.

Meta is rolling out a new space called Forum, and it is shifting how communities connect inside Facebook.

Instead of scattered comment threads and noisy feeds, Forum is designed to feel more like focused conversations. Think of it as a structured community space where people join discussions based on shared interests, topics, and groups, rather than just reacting to posts in a general feed.

For users, it means easier discovery of conversations that actually matter to them. For creators and businesses, it opens up a more intentional way to build engagement without getting lost in algorithm chaos.

It is still in rollout and testing in many regions, so not everyone will see it yet, but the direction is clear. Meta is trying to move community interaction back into deeper, more organised spaces.

This could become a major shift for how Facebook Groups evolve over time.

The app, available on iOS, lets you browse groups that you’re a part of, make posts to groups, and ask questions to a chatbot to get information sourced from groups. Industrial designer Raymond Loewy was one of the most influential figures in twentieth-century visual identity, known for transforming everyday products and corporate branding through streamlined, modern aesthetics. Among his many contributions was his work for SPAR, the international retail cooperative founded in the Netherlands. Loewy helped refine the brand’s visual identity by simplifying the logo into a bold, easily recognisable symbol centred on a stylised evergreen tree, a visual reference to the organisation’s Dutch name, which relates to the word “spar” (fir tree). His approach emphasised clarity, legibility, and instant recognition across storefront signage, packaging, and advertising.

The resulting mark struck a balance between geometric simplicity and symbolic meaning, enabling it to remain adaptable across decades and international markets. Loewy’s redesign demonstrated his philosophy that good design should be both attractive and functional, ensuring that the SPAR logo communicated reliability and consistency while remaining visually distinctive worldwide.
