Digital Niche offers a range of services, some projects are shorter than others, and some span over years.
This one is worth a mention.
The Golden Globe Race is a solo non-stop race around the world which starts and ends in France. What makes it unique is that it is a retro race, meaning participants have a set of rules to follow that ensure they sail like it is 1968 - no modern tech, no outside support.
Digital Niche has seen to the media and design for one of the South African entrants for the GGR2022, Jeremy Bagshaw.
Over the last 3 years, this involved:
Website design, logo design, recording and supplying video footage every 3 months of boat and prep work updates, supporting fundraisers, liaising with the organisers and other local and international media crew, writing press releases, photo and video library management and social media updates (some of these updates come in via sat phone while Jeremy is sailing).
After three years, it feels unreal to think the start is less than a month away, but it is far from over.
The excitement is building to the start in Sept, and we report from our desks. For close to 9 months, we will only see what the trackers see. Anything can happen as these sailors sail through the notorious Southern Ocean for a large part of the race.
It has been such an interesting project. I feel privileged to have exposure to such a global event.
I encourage you to follow along - either on Jeremy's page or on the official GGR page: Jeremy Bagshaw - Golden Globe Race 2022 OR Golden Globe Race
Let's all wish Jeremy good luck - I am sure he will make South Africa proud!
A short clip of some of the film work:
I am a lifelong sailor having been introduced to the sport by my father at the tender age of 6. I graduated through various dinghies from Optimists to Lasers...
