The "Less is More" Approach (2012 Archive) 🎞️
14 years ago, the standard for event branding was "busy" the more artists on the flyer, the better. For this O Summer Mayhem event featurinf AKA , we took a calculated risk by breaking that mold.

Instead of a cluttered collage of the entire lineup, we opted for a single, high-impact portrait of the main artist. By focusing on a single focal point, we commanded attention into a definitive piece of artist branding.

Even the color palette was intentional. While the "Gold & Black" trend of the 2010s was often loud and metallic, we softened the gold to a subtle, sophisticated hue to maintain a premium feel that aligned with the FashionTV brand too.

This piece is a reminder that while tools and platforms change, intentional design is timeless.

Proof that wood floors can be glossy, magazines still smell good, and print deadlines do not care about your sleep schedule.

Some time back, we worked on a series of print ads for Rubio Monocoat. The goal was simple: show the product doing what it does best on real wood floors and outdoor decks, without visual noise or marketing tricks.

These ads went on to be published in House & Garden (Condé Nast), Home & Leisure, Earthworks, and Timber IQ, reaching readers who care deeply about craft, materials, and finish quality.

Swipe through to see a selection of the final ads, plus a behind-the-scenes moment of me deep in Adobe InDesign, adjusting layouts, grids, and spacing until everything sat exactly where it should. Print may move slower than digital, but when it is done right, it carries a certain weight that screens still cannot replace.

Designing for print always reminds one that restraint, hierarchy, and clarity never go out of style.

Bark Avenue logo design 🐾

A mobile dog grooming brand based in Pretoria, South Africa.

The brief was clear: keep it clean, professional, and friendly, with their own German Shepherd as the mascot. Using the client’s reference, I created a stylised vector that feels personal without going cartoonish. Earthy browns and greys on a white base kept the look grounded and trustworthy.

Designed with speed in mind for a tight registration deadline, without compromising clarity or scalability.

One Helluva Night Event Flyers

Flyer pack for Pluto Entertainment

The brief called for flexibility and impact. We designed a full flyer set including the main event artwork and individual artist flyers, then released two colorways to let the audience decide.

Silver-orange versus deep red.
Both ran live. Both performed.

Every layout was adapted for square formats to protect hierarchy, text, and character placement on social feeds.

Event artwork and visual system by us 😊

The pack consisted of both print & digital formats inclusing A4-A0 sizes, Horizontal layouts and Square formats. Each format included individual posters for the artists and hosts too.

The accompanying video is on the previous post.
The event featured Maglera Doe Boy, Abidoza, Lee Mckrazy, Spontaneous Dj, Dj Rico and more....

Pluto Entertainment's One Helluva Night promo video 2024

Event artwork and a 59-second promo video built for mobile-first platforms.

This campaign brought together bold flyer design, artist-specific visuals, and a fast-cut hype video that matched the energy of the lineup.

From sourcing limited artist imagery to mixing three tracks into a single high-energy edit, every decision was made to keep the visuals sharp and the momentum high across Instagram formats.

In 2014, the Assemblies of God Church in Johannesburg commissioned us to design the DVD cover and artwork for Last Teachings of Dr Myles Munroe, created to commemorate his teachings. during his visit to Sandton, South Africa.

Design wise, The brief called for restraint and clarity. A black and gold palette, strong typography, and a solid black background were chosen to reflect the seriousness of the message and to stand apart from the brighter, more decorative tributes released at the time.

Projects like this shaped how we approach design today: understanding context, knowing when to hold back, and letting the message lead the visuals.

If you were commissioning this today, would you still choose a minimal direction, or would you push it further?

This was commissioned just after his untimely passing.
