According to Adam Mosseri, Instagram's CEO, images and carousels are driving greater engagement than Reels. This implies that brands may have better visibility on their main feed.
This is due to two things:
1. When an account posts multiple pieces of media in one post, such as a carousel, it will result in increased interactions and, therefore, more reach on average.
2. When scrolling past a carousel, without stopping to swipe, Instagram will give the post a second chance later on by displaying the second piece of media in the carousel automatically.
PLUS Instagram users can include up to 20 images in one post with music. These posts (with music) are now eligible to appear in the Reels tab, providing another expanded reach opportunity.
