We are thrilled to announce that, under new regulations, actioned under level four of the national lockdown, Boost Collective have been given the permission to resume production. 🎥

These regulations allow us to do what we do best, while minimizing exposure and thereby limiting the spread of COVID-19.

An Essential Services permit has been issued to Boost Collective, which will be guided by the CPA rules and regulations. 💥🧡

While our hospitals test and treat patients for Covid-19, patients with other medical needs remain in need of blood donations from us during this time, as well.

Let's continue the remarkable work of saving lives, during this time.

Blood donors will still be allowed to travel to blood donation clinics during the national lockdown. We are currently assessing how the lockdown will effect clinics that were scheduled during this period. We appeal to all our healthy donors to keep donating during this difficult time. Western Cape patients still need you. Women will still give birth; cancer patients still need to recover from treatment; haemophiliacs still need blood products to survive. We need our community to stand stronger than ever before.

The Western Cape Blood Service has taken all possible measures to step up hygiene protocols at clinics. Clinic staff maintain a high level of hand hygiene. Staff sanitise their hands regularly with soap and water in addition to using hand sanitiser before and after each encounter with a donor. Hand sanitiser is freely available for blood donors and staff to use at blood donation clinics. Staff have been instructed to avoid close contact with people who are sick, and to stay at home when they are sick. Cleaning and disinfection procedures for frequently used objects and surfaces have been enhanced. Blood donation stations and beds are kept at reasonable distances to ensure social distancing as far as possible.
