Meet MAVERICK. AKA THE TOP GUN YACHT
Flexplorer = Flexible + Explorer
I got a private tour of Motor Yacht Maverick at the Palm Beach Boat Show the other day with the legendary Captain Guy Perkins and I need to talk about this boat.
She’s a Flexplorer 146 built by Cantiere delle Marche, and the word Flexplorer isn’t just a cool name. It’s an entirely new category of yacht they invented and once you understand it, you can’t unsee it.
Most explorer yachts do one thing well. They either go far, or they live luxuriously. The Flexplorer does both and the secret is in how the boat physically transforms.
That massive aft deck?
It can carry a 30-foot tender, jet skis, even a submarine all handled by a hydraulic A-frame crane that literally disappears into the teak flooring when not in use. Then once the toys hit the water, that same deck becomes a full beach club with a pool, sunbeds, and the ocean at your feet.The side bulwarks fold completely flat, flush with the teak opening the deck up and putting you in direct contact with the sea around you. These are just a few of the amazing feats CDM brought to life. Mavericks master cabin also features unexpected custom amenities, including a discreet laundry machine and a pantry with a stovetop… Something I have never seen before on any yacht and shows that the owners appreciate the capability of being self sufficient.
And underneath all that luxury? Bluewater expedition DNA. Long-range hull. Fuel-efficient naval architecture built to go anywhere on earth.
Maverick proved it: 33,000 miles. 28 countries. 18 months.
This is what happens when a shipyard decides to redefine what explorer yachting can be.
Multiple award winner including the World Superyacht Awards 2025 and Robb Report 2025.
She’s something else. 🌍⚓
I must say it felt like I was stepping onto a 60m German build and I was amazed by the space, the unique one of a kind features and its capacity to flexplore 🗺️
To sum up my experience onboard,
Maverick doesn’t follow the rules, it rewrites them. ⚓️
Arguably the most impressive 44 m yacht I have ever seen.
