"R100 a week? Is that actually enough to do it properly?"

It's the first thing most people ask.

Fair question. Here's the direct answer.

R100/week is R5,200 a year.

Here's exactly what that covers:

✅ Professional website design - Built properly, not from a template
✅ Reliable hosting - Not budget shared servers
✅ Ongoing maintenance - Updates, fixes, monitoring
✅ SEO foundation - Page structure, local signals, meta titles
✅ WhatsApp integration - One tap and a customer is calling you

How is this possible at that price?

We run lean. No big office, no bloated team. Just focused ex*****on.

Is it the same as a R50,000 enterprise project? No - and it's not trying to be.

It's built specifically for service businesses that want a professional, Google-visible website without a large upfront cost or the hassle of managing it themselves.

Here's the number that matters most:

If your website brings in one extra client per month, the entire annual cost pays back in the first week.

An electrician. A plumber. An accountant. One job covers the year.

So tell me - if the price isn't the concern, what is?

Drop it in the comments. I'll answer every single one.

There's a free tool from Google that many South African service businesses either don't have or haven't set up properly.

It's called Google Business Profile.

When you search for a type of business in a city on Google, the businesses that appear in the map block at the top of results are there because of their Google Business Profile.

If you don't have one, you're invisible in that block, even if you have a website.

If you have one but it's incomplete, you're significantly less likely to appear.

Here's what a complete Google Business Profile needs:

✅ Business name, category, and description
✅ Your full address or service area
✅ Opening hours
✅ Phone number and website
✅ At least 5 photos
✅ Customer reviews
✅ Regular posts (yes, like social media, but on Google)

Setting this up correctly is one of the fastest wins available to any local service business.

At Vellu Digital, we help our clients set up and optimise their GBP as part of the process.

Do you have a Google Business Profile?

Has it been set up properly?

I check a lot of South African business websites. Here's the most common problem I find.

The website exists, but it was never built to be found.

There's a difference between a website that looks decent and a website that ranks on Google.

Many small business websites in South Africa are in the first category.

Here's what "built to rank" actually means:

1) Your location is clearly signalled: suburb, city, service area
2) Each service has its own page, not one page saying "we do everything"
3) It works fast on a phone as most searches happen on mobile
4) It's secure and properly hosted as Google penalises unsafe sites
5) The content matches what people actually type into Google

Most once-off website builds don't include these things because they add time and expertise.

We build them in from the start at Vellu Digital.

It's not optional, it's the foundation.

If you want me to check your current website for free, comment your website URL below and I'll give you honest feedback.

We launched this week. Here's where we're at.

Vellu Digital has 3 clients.

Their websites are live.

They're already ranking on Google.

In one week.

We're not a big agency with a fancy office.

We're a small team that knows exactly what a business website needs to do: show up, build trust, and turn visitors into enquiries.

Here's how we started:

3 websites built and live

All 3 built with proper SEO from day one

All 3 clients paid R100 for their first week.

No setup fee, no hidden costs

We kept the entry point low on purpose.

We'd rather let the work speak than ask you to take a big risk on a new name.

If you want to see the sites we've built, I'll show you.

If you want to talk to one of our clients directly, I'll make that happen.

We're just getting started and there's still room if you want in early.

27 spots left.

Message us to find out more.

Thank you for voting. Here's what I promised.

60% of you said YES, your website is generating enquiries.

40% said NO.

That split is exactly what I see when I look at SA businesses online.

And the difference between the two groups almost always comes down to the same things.

Let me break it down honestly.

WHY THE 40% AREN'T GETTING ENQUIRIES

1) The website is outdated

I don't mean it looks old.

I mean it loads slowly and it's hard to navigate on a phone, and it also gives visitors no real reason to trust the business or take the next step.

Most people searching for a service in SA are doing it on their phone.

If your site isn't built for that experience, they're gone before they ever find your contact details.

2) The SEO doesn't match what customers are actually searching for.

A lot of websites either have no SEO strategy at all, or they're chasing broad terms that are almost impossible to rank for.

What actually works is showing up for the specific things your ideal customer types when they need you right now.

That also means your business name, address, and phone number need to be consistent everywhere online on Google, Facebook and directories.

Small inconsistencies quietly hurt your visibility more than most people realise.

Your Google Business Profile is also more powerful than most businesses treat it.

If it's incomplete or neglected, you're leaving a lot of visibility on the table.

3) The website has no value to AI, and this one is catching people off guard

This is the shift I'm watching most closely right now.

More and more people are using tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI search to find and compare businesses before they ever click on a website.

These tools read your content and decide whether your business is worth recommending.

If your site is thin, vague, or doesn't clearly communicate what you do, who you help, and why you're credible, AI simply won't recommend you.

It'll send that potential enquiry to whoever has a better answer on their website.

WHAT THE 60% ARE DOING DIFFERENTLY

It's not complicated, but it does require intention:

- Their site works well on mobile and loads quickly

- They show up for the searches their actual customers are typing

- Their content is clear, helpful, and builds trust with both people and AI

That's really it.

No magic.

No massive budget.

Just the right things done properly.

If you're in that 40% and want an honest look at what's holding your website back, drop a comment or send me a message.

Happy to help.

Here's something many South African business owners don't know about Google.

When someone searches "electrician in Cape Town" or "accountant near me". Google shows a list of local businesses.

The businesses on that list get the calls.
The businesses not on that list get nothing.

Here's why many service businesses don't appear:

❌ No website at all
❌ A website that wasn't built with SEO in mind
❌ No Google Business Profile
❌ A site that doesn't work properly on a phone

None of these are permanent problems. They're all fixable.

That's what Vellu Digital does, we fix the online foundation for service businesses in South Africa. A properly built, locally optimised website for R100 a week.

If you're a business owner who's ever wondered why your competitors are showing up on Google and you're not. This is usually why.

Save this post. Share it with a business owner who needs to see it.

I'm going to document this journey honestly. The wins, the slow days, and everything in between.

And if you want to be one of the 30, send me a message. Let's talk honestly about whether this makes sense for your business.
