Rooibos has been spotlighted as part of a powerful new storytelling project by South African skincare brand Lelive. In an episode of its shelf-made docu-series, acclaimed artist Karabo Poppy explores themes of heritage, identity, and preservation — values that also shape the ingredients chosen for Lelive’s skincare products.
Among the indigenous ingredients featured are Rooibos, baobab, aloe ferox and resurrection plants, all sourced through formal benefit-sharing agreements that recognise and support the communities connected to these botanical resources. The story highlights how Rooibos continues to find new expression beyond food and beverage applications, while reinforcing its role as a uniquely South African ingredient rooted in sustainability, heritage and innovation.
