To think that there are places in Mzansi where education is discouraged and furthermore frowned upon, without an alternative or substitute for it, is a sad and teary eye-opener.
Like this guy I know for example, who I would send daily updates of the loadshedding schedule to as screenshots via WhatsApp.
In hindsight, it now makes more sense why he and mostly ladies, I usually cross paths with are always talking TO their phones while busy sending voice-notes. No texts. To put it mildly, I am NOT a fan of voice notes.
(Yes, sending VNs are supposed to save time but then who's got time to make out what's being said if the sender is in a place with loud background noises?)
So I've come to conclude that the VN Gang are either too lazy to type or they can't write because they didn't learn how to.
There was an occasion where I sent my guy the regular loadshedding schedule and this time the hours read: 13h00, 14h00, 15h00 and so on. He instantly replied with a VN 😭 asking wether those were day or night-time hours....that's when it all dawn on me that this 20-something year old father is uneducated.
Go figure!
