Our home is brimming with books and more books; and my proudest has to be to see our kids also growing up with a love for reading. They are the little ones that I draw for.❤️

Three years since my life changed - for the better.❤️
I woke up today, and we went to court; YET AGAIN, to have it postponed, YET AGAIN… But, this isn’t a post about that. One day, that part will be a part of my past. And to some extent it already is.

Time gives a person the time to think back, and reflect. And I know now, that what happened that evening of the 14th of April 2023, happened that I could wake up now to this incredible life with so many loved ones. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hiiii March; bye March! I haven’t posted in such a long time; and it’s okay. 🫣 I guess. I go through these super inspired ‘I’ll post more often’ phases, and then; woosh; they’re gone. And that is also good.

I’ve been so busy drawing; add some more drawing, and unfortunately I cannot yet share those new illustrations, so for the time being - here’s one of my faves from last year💚

Went to Laerskool Bakenkop to read to all the Grade 3’s today - and wow, what an experience! It was so much fun to tell them the story of Gertuida Gans. 🦆

I think, even it being a day late after World Read Aloud Day, it is still imperative to read to our younguns.

I can still vividly remember the books I fell in love with when I was growing up, and I hope the books I get the honour of illustrating can also inspire a few.❤️

Never be afraid to dream - to dream of changing lanes; to pursue a dream that you always felt out of reach.

This 2026 vs. 2016 trend (I know; I’m late 😜), sent me down a rabbit hole of looking at my old work. And at that time; all I wanted to create was gorgeous paper pretties. Now; in 2026; I still love stationery, but it has shifted into children’s books. And for now; that is exactly where I need to be. A season where I can draw next to the cricket field/dance practice/after school; or quickly sketch surrounded by all the kids giving their input into how they see a certain character.❤️

Pinch me! ‘Gertruida Gans leer ‘n les’ is in ! This is the smile of someone that had this dream, and now it has become a reality.

For the people that know me, I love, I mean LOVE reading, and to be able to have illustrated this gorgeous story by Halrika Breytenbach - wow, what an honour.

And to be able to show our children, and be a little part of their childhood through illustration. 🥹 This is more than a moment, it is something that I feel so blessed. Blessed to share it with our children. Blessed to share it with family.❤️

It’s truly incredible watching the journey of my artwork—from a blank page to these vibrant, wearable designs for ! Seeing my original illustrations come to life as actual, beautiful pieces is the ultimate payoff. I couldn’t possibly choose just one photo to capture that magic!
