DENNILTON ENTREPRENEUR TURNS A DREAM INTO A GROWING PEANUT BUTTER BRAND

Born and raised in Mpheleng Village, Dennilton, young entrepreneur Kgotlello Moraba is turning his vision into reality through his growing food brand, Nut-Nut Low Sugar Peanut Butter.

Moraba says his entrepreneurial journey was inspired by the lack of job opportunities in his community. Instead of waiting for employment, he decided to create opportunities for himself and others.

The idea for Nut-Nut was born while he was a matric learner in 2024. Facing challenges at school, he began researching business opportunities and realised entrepreneurship could be his path to success.

Initially, he planned to produce ordinary peanut butter. However, after noticing that many businesses were already operating in that market, he decided to develop a unique product that would stand out from competitors.

The result was Nut-Nut Low Sugar Peanut Butter, made using ingredients such as chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and honey. Moraba says the product is designed for consumers looking for healthier alternatives, including people who prefer low-sugar diets.

The name "Nut-Nut" comes from the word peanut itself. "Pea-nut gave us Nut-Nut," he explained.

Remarkably, Moraba registered his company in 2024 while writing his final matric examinations. With no start-up capital available, he later worked at Tebogo Farming and invested his earnings into purchasing peanuts, equipment and other business necessities.

Like many entrepreneurs, he faced challenges in production and sales. He recalls making mistakes during manufacturing, including burning peanuts and adding too much salt, which resulted in losses for the business.

Despite these setbacks, he remained determined. By offering quality products and earning customer trust, he gradually built a loyal customer base. Today, many customers appreciate the unique ingredients used in his peanut butter.

One of his proudest achievements has been delivering products outside Limpopo Province. The business currently employs one temporary worker, with plans to create more jobs as the company grows.

Looking ahead, Moraba hopes to supply major retail stores and eventually build a globally recognised food manufacturing company. His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple: "Start with whatever you have and don't waste time."

For orders and deliveries, customers can contact 076 111 9704.

His story is a powerful reminder that success does not always begin with money, connections or perfect circumstances. Sometimes it begins with a dream, determination and the courage to take the first step. From a matric learner with no capital to the founder of a growing brand, Kgotlello Moraba is proving that young people from rural communities can build businesses, create jobs and inspire a generation to believe that anything is possible.

Dennilton Female Entrepreneur Turns Passion Into a Growing Catering and Décor Business

At just 27 years old, Trinity Malaka of Mpheleng in Dennilton is proving that determination, creativity, and hard work can turn a dream into reality. As the founder of Mokgethwa's Service, she is steadily building a name for herself in the catering, baking, and event décor industry while inspiring other young women to pursue entrepreneurship.

Born and raised in Dennilton, Limpopo, Malaka developed a passion for food preparation and creativity from an early age. Her dream of becoming a professional chef motivated her to take a bold step towards self-employment and create opportunities for herself.

Her entrepreneurial journey began in 2024 when she started a small baking business, supplying cakes and baked goods to customers within her community. As demand for her products increased, she expanded her services to include catering and event décor, laying the foundation for what has become a growing local business.

Today, Mokgethwa's Service caters for weddings, funerals, birthday celebrations, corporate functions, and other special events. The business also offers customised cakes, platters, event styling, and a range of catering solutions tailored to clients' needs.

Speaking about her motivation, Malaka said the high unemployment rate and challenges faced by many young people inspired her to become an entrepreneur. Instead of waiting for opportunities, she decided to create her own path and work towards building a sustainable business.

Like many entrepreneurs, her journey has not been without challenges. Limited capital and resources made it difficult to establish and grow the business during its early stages. However, she remained focused on improving her skills, delivering quality service, and building a strong reputation within the community.

Malaka believes that dedication, consistency, and attention to detail are among the qualities that set her business apart. She strives to ensure that every event is memorable and that every client receives exceptional service.

One of her proudest achievements has been seeing Mokgethwa's Service grow from a small baking venture into a trusted catering and décor business. She says earning the trust of clients and receiving referrals from satisfied customers has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her journey.

As a young female entrepreneur operating in a competitive industry, Malaka hopes her story will encourage other women and young people to believe in their abilities and pursue their business ambitions despite the obstacles they may encounter.

She also credits much of her success to the support she has received from the local community. Through bookings, referrals, and words of encouragement, community members have played an important role in helping her business grow.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Malaka's message is simple: start with what you have, remain committed to your goals, and never stop learning. She believes perseverance and consistency are essential ingredients for long-term success.

Looking ahead, she hopes to expand Mokgethwa's Service into one of the leading catering and décor brands in the region while creating employment opportunities and contributing to local economic development.

"I am grateful to everyone who has supported my journey so far. Every booking and every opportunity means a lot to me. My goal is to continue providing quality service, making every event memorable, and creating opportunities that will benefit our community," she said.

For bookings and enquiries, Mokgethwa's Service can be contacted on 071 420 2463 or 060 127 2874.

Dennilton Teenager Hospitalised After Consuming Suspected Contaminated Sweets

The community of Ntwane Village in Dennilton is calling on authorities to take decisive action after Environmental Health officials confiscated a large quantity of food products suspected to be expired, improperly stored, or contaminated during an inspection conducted on Monday, 15 June 2026.

The inspection followed growing concern among residents after a 17-year-old learner was hospitalised with a severe illness allegedly linked to sweets purchased from a local spaza shop.

During the operation, Environmental Health officials removed various food items from some local shops, including bags of rice, frozen poultry products, soft drinks, canned beverages, and bulk produce. The confiscated items are expected to undergo further assessment as part of the ongoing investigation.

In a formal submission to relevant authorities, community leaders called for a written enforcement action plan outlining immediate and medium-term measures to strengthen food safety inspections at all food-selling establishments in the area.

The community has also requested clear timelines regarding laboratory testing of the confiscated sweets and other seized products, confirmation on whether the implicated establishment has been ordered to suspend trading, and details of interim safety measures aimed at protecting residents.

Community leader Seun Mogotji said residents remain concerned but cooperative while awaiting the outcome of the investigation.

“We acknowledge the swift response by Environmental Health Services, but the scale of this confiscation raises serious concerns about routine compliance monitoring. The safety and wellbeing of our children and residents must remain the highest priority,” he said.

Mogotji added that public anxiety has intensified following the hospitalisation of the learner.

“We are urging calm and restraint, but we also need authorities to provide a clear commitment on timelines and actions. If adequate information is not provided, we will be compelled to escalate the matter to provincial and national authorities responsible for public health,” he said.

The Ntwane incident comes amid ongoing concerns over food safety incidents affecting learners across South Africa. Earlier this year, dozens of pupils from a Mpumalanga school were reportedly hospitalised following a suspected food poisoning incident linked to snacks, prompting health inspectors to collect samples for laboratory testing.

Health authorities have repeatedly warned parents and learners about purchasing food products from unverified and informal outlets where compliance with food safety regulations may not always be guaranteed.

Environmental Health Practitioners enforce food safety regulations under the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act of 1972 and Regulation R638 of 2018 governing food premises. These regulations empower inspectors to seize and destroy expired, counterfeit, or unsafe food products found on sale.

However, experts have noted that many municipalities continue to face challenges such as limited personnel, resource constraints, and laboratory backlogs, which can affect the frequency of inspections and the speed of investigations.

Authorities have not yet released the results of laboratory tests on the confiscated products. The investigation remains ongoing.

Foreign-Owned Shop Closed After Alleged Discovery of Pill in Biscuit Packet

A foreign-owned shop in Skimming Village, under the Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality in Mpumalanga, was forced to close on Monday evening, 15 June 2026, after community members allegedly discovered a pill inside a packet of mini biscuits purchased by a minor.

According to information received, the discovery sparked outrage among residents, who gathered at the shop between 6pm and 7pm to confront the owner over the alleged incident.

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) were deployed in significant numbers to manage the situation and prevent further escalation as tensions rose within the community.

The situation ultimately led to the closure of the shop, with its inventory reportedly being removed in multiple bakkies under heavy police es**rt at around 10pm.

Authorities are expected to provide further details on the matter, including the outcome of any investigations, in an official statement on Tuesday morning.
