You may have noticed on your social media feeds that October is Mental Health Awareness Month in South Africa. This year’s theme: ‘Access and Inclusion: Why Community Mental Health Services are Important’, couldn’t be more vital.

On the ground, bringing this theme to life is Mbali Khumalo, a committed Social Auxiliary Worker from Shout It Now. Every day, Mbali connects people to the mental health support they need, witnessing firsthand how accessible and inclusive services can transform lives, strengthen families, and build healthier communities.

Heroes like Mbali remind us that mental health care isn’t just a service, it’s a lifeline. This month, let’s celebrate the work being done in our communities and recommit to making care accessible for all.

Let’s get real about mental health 💚

As part of our Woke & Wired series, where young people talk about health and what’s new, we’re diving into some common myths and facts about mental health.

It’s time to break the stigma and see mental health for what it truly is: everyday wellbeing rooted in knowledge, community, and compassion.

Stay tuned for more myths and join the conversation. Head over to our LinkedIn page tomorrow for Mental Health Awareness Day to find out more!

The world’s most important HIV science conference kicks off this Sunday in Kigali, Rwanda, and virtually, we make an exception.

From 13–17 July, the 13th IAS Conference on HIV Science ( ) is taking centre; uniting science, policy and activism to move the global HIV response forward. Because when those three forces align, real progress happens.

At Shout-It-Now, we’re proud to stand at that intersection, delivering radically youth-centred healthcare through mobile clinics, virtual platforms, and purpose-built tech. We’re reimagining access, equity, and dignity for a new generation.

We’re proud to spotlight:
Paul Potsane, Shout’s Head of Programmes, presenting critical insights into why PrEP fails.

Catch his e-poster:
“Drivers of PrEP discontinuation among adolescent girls and young women who subsequently acquired HIV in five high-prevalence districts in South Africa.”

Because understanding where the system breaks is the first step to building something better.

Yes, we’re breaking the algorithm, because some moments are bigger than metrics. There’s only one conference that makes you post on a Saturday, and it’s ; the world’s most influential meeting on HIV research and its real-world impact.

This year, Shout It Now takes centre stage at hashtag with a bold, future-focused satellite session: From Potential to Practice: Using AI to Accelerate Innovation in HIV and Health Systems in Africa.

Join our CEO, Dr Ntombifikile Nokwethemba Mtshali, and a panel of brilliant minds as we explore how behavioural insights, AI, and ecosystem-driven solutions can radically improve how we reach young people and their caregivers, not just with services, but with dignity, relevance, and results.

📍Don’t miss the session.
