Overall Purpose
Analyse the needs of the organisation and develop and draw up a suitable skills development plan and ensure that the skills development plan is followed and properly administrated

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

(In order of importance)
1. Assist in the development of a Workplace Skills Plan
2. Submit the Workplace Skills Plan to an external SDF
3. Advise on the implementation of the Workplace Skills Plan
4. Assist with the obtaining of an Annual Training Report against the approved Workplace Skills Plan
5. Advise the employer on quality assurance requirements as set by the relevant SETA
6. Function as a contact person between the employer and the relevant SETA
7. Communicate and process application for relevant skills development grants

Summary

A skilled embedded engineer with strong development and debugging skills is required for our development in Impro R&D.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design & Implementation of embedded firmware and test solutions primarily in C
• Design Documentation
• Working in a small team environment locally and with multi-site projects internationally

• Applied experience with embedded C in bare-metal and RTOS environments

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Research Product
• Discuss project specifications with project leader and designers involved with the project
• Obtain any documentation available about the product including circuit diagrams and component layouts
• Formulate test processes and methodology
• Design, conceptualize and develop tests for new and existing products
• Performing capability studies on Test Equipment / methodologies
• Investigate new technologies within automated test equipment field

2. Design Test Jig
• To design test equipment for mass production
• Design and implement improvements in test systems aimed at

• reducing development time of test equipment
• Design and layout of printed circuit boards using appropriate software programs e.g.: Altium
• Discuss any possible problems with the engineering team involved and redesign if necessary

3. Building of Test Jig

• Write Firmware

• Implement and maintain trace ability and data collection systems using SQL
• Order components or acquire them from stores.

4. Documentation
• Participate in Process/Test FMEA’s and Design FMEA’s

5. Installation

6. Training
• Ensure that production testers read all relevant documentation pertaining to the testing of the product under test
• Demonstrate the testing procedure
• Assist with testing until the tester is confident, knows what they are doing and has no more questions

7. Maintenance
• Maintain all relevant documents pertaining to test jigs
• Retest and calibrate all test jigs after a set period as stipulated by quality control
• Refurbish and repair any faulty or damaged test jigs
• Ensure that any tests done by any test jig are still relevant and modify or upgrade where necessary in conjunction with the design engineer of the product and the correct ECO

Qualifications
• 2 years post graduate experience in the manufacture of production testing equipment in an electronic manufacturing environment
• 2 years experience and fluency in C #/C++ and SQL
