eTV Scandal Audition for KZN Actors.
One of e.tv’s prime time soapies, Scandal! is embarking on a campaign to uncover new South African soapie stars from KwaZulu-Natal.
A panel of four judges will descend on Durban’s City Hall on 9 and 10 March in search of two new faces to join the award-winning cast ensemble. The judges – who will comprise of both talent and producers on Scandal! - will be auditioning talent to take the spot of one male and one female character, with both characters to be from rural KwaZulu-Natal.
“The two characters that we are casting for will be part of Kila’s (Siyabonga Shibe) family, who will come to Johannesburg and bring with them some exciting twists into Kila’s life”, notes Ilse van Hemert, series producer. “Without giving too much away, both the characters are substantial and permanent roles and will offer an amazing platform for two talented individuals to light up our small screen and unveil their acting potential.”
The female role will be auditioned for on Friday 9 March only and the male role on Saturday 10 March only. Auditions will be held from 9am to 5pm on both days and will be on a first-come first-served basis, ending at exactly 5pm.
“With approximately 2 million viewers, Scandal! is one of the most successful local productions and e.tv is offering the people of KwaZulu-Natal an opportunity to be part of this show and bring a sense of authenticity to a character from their homeland,” says Monde Twala, e.tv channel head.
“We are looking to cast two authentic people in these roles and we felt that the province had an abundance of raw talent that is waiting to be discovered. Our casting audition process will uncover the unpolished potential stars of tomorrow and offer them a platform to act alongside the best in the South African soapie industry,” notes Stan Joseph of Ochre Moving Pictures.
The following criteria are non-negotiable and needed for all parties interested in participating in the open auditions:
• Isi Zulu must be your first language
• You must be able to speak and read English with ease
• You must be able to relocate to Johannesburg at your own cost if you get the part.
• You must be between the ages of 18 and 25 for the part of the male
• You must be between 22 and 28 for the part of the female
• You must have natural acting talent
• Please ensure that you bring along your Identity Book in order for your details to be validated.
• You must be a resident of South African and show proof of that with a SA Identity document.
Talent that are auditioning for the roles need to prepare a one-minute performance comprising of a 30 second introduction of themselves and a 30 second scene acted out of their favourite movie or soapie. The judges will then shortlist 20 young talents, who will go through to the audition phase.
The final results will be made public at the end of March.
