The area next to our current restaurant is being brought up to the same floor level as our existing space, which means we’re one step closer to creating a beautiful, seamless extension of The Kitchen Table. 🤍

To allow the work to happen safely and, most importantly, without disrupting your experience, we’ll be open as normal this morning and closing from 1pm today while the concrete work takes place.

Making the best of the weather! Just poured myself a little OB’s 🙌

The Story of Old Brown Sherry.

Sedgwick’s Old Brown Sherry, better known to many South Africans simply as “OB’s”, was launched in 1916 and became South Africa’s first commercially produced old brown sherry. More than a century later, it remains one of the country’s best known fortified wines.

The drink is associated with Captain James Sedgwick, a mariner who settled at the Cape after a career at sea. The Sedgwick name had already become established in the Cape during the 19th century, and Old Brown was introduced in 1916.

Old Brown is made in the Spanish Oloroso style. It is a fortified wine with a sweet taste and its characteristic nutty brown colour. It is not the same as traditional Spanish sherry, but was developed as a South African interpretation of the style.
