🚨 **Quick Thinking Leads to Multiple Cable Theft Arrests!** 🚨

Thanks to the sharp eyes and swift action of our community and local security partners, a major cable theft attempt was thwarted!

A vigilant member of the MVPG NHW spotted a vehicle dropping off individuals carrying tools commonly used for cable theft in a known hotspot area. They immediately sounded the alarm, prompting our response teams and partners to jump into action.

A massive thank you to everyone who worked together to bring these suspects to justice:

* **SAPS & Metro Police** for their rapid and professional response
* **District Watch, FADT, Precinct, & Securitas** for their tactical backup
* **Edgemead NHW & Richwood NHW** for phenomenal community patroller collaboration

**The Result:** Multiple suspects were detained and subsequently arrested, including one suspect found in possesion of a SAPS bulletproof vest.

This is a powerful reminder of how much we can achieve when the community and security networks stand shoulder to shoulder. 👁️🛡️

This morning members of the Monte Vista Plattekloof Glen NHW handed out sweets to residents stuck in traffic to lighten up their day and put a smile on their faces to celebrate Spring Day. Thank you to all the NHW members who took part, and to District Watch for supporting this initiative. A huge thank you to Filter Systems Cape Town for donating the sweets.

Justice Served for Monte Vista Armed Robbery! ⚖

We are pleased to share a major victory in the fight against crime following the harrowing armed robbery of an Edgemead resident at gunpoint on 5 November 2025.
The same criminals were also linked to an armed robbery in Bothasig in December of 2025.

Thanks to the neighborhood's teamwork, swift reporting, and relentless investigative work, the perpetrators have successfully been brought to book and handed down significant sentences:

The Armed Robber: Sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, with 5 years suspended.
The Driver: Sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, with 5 years suspended.

Acknowledgments & Appreciation:
Positive results like this are proof of what can be achieved when a community stands together with SAPS, local community and the Neighbourhood Watch.

District Watch: Thank you for your swift armed response and ongoing commitment to keeping our streets safe.
Monte Vista Residents: A heartfelt thank you to the community members who stepped forward and assisted with crucial information that helped crack the case.

We deeply value the cooperation and strong relationships between our residents, private security, and SAPS—partnerships that continue to yield positive results and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

We also would like to emphasise once again the importance of home security cameras, as well as human detection and LPR cameras in the fight against crime in our community. **Attention residents**

At approximately 01:40 this morning (20/08) wall jumpers gained access to a property on Monte Vista Boulevard, and made use of the residents’ step ladder to climb the fence to an adjoining property. The activity triggered a motion-activated outdoor light, and by the time the homeowners got outside to see a single CM climbing back over their wall, their two mountain bikes had been stolen out the yard.

Thank you to ADT, DW, ECP, and Edgemead NHW, and SAPS for the swift response and assistance.

Please be careful when supporting the horse and cart riders. We understand that it may be convenient, however we have just had an incident where vigilant NHW members have stopped a trio who jumped a fence and tried to steal a wrought iron table set from someone’s yard. They unfortunately got away, this time.

We strongly encourage residents to support our Camera Project to help us add another layer of security to the community. Any donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference.

**REMINDER**

Residents are reminded to please never leave valuables in their cars - this makes you a soft target for criminals. Always assume that you are being watched, and rather bring them out the car with you. Even something as simple as an empty backpack or a jacket can be motivation enough, and you will end up with a broken window and a costly repair. Also make sure that your vehicle is locked and always be aware of your surroundings.
