Some shadows never leave us. Some loves never let us go.

Uthunzi Lo’Thando arrives at the National Arts Festival 2026 in Makhanda, an intimate one-hander stage play following Jeff, a man caught between love, loss, memory, and the haunting echoes of his own choices.

Through monologue, silence, movement, and immersive soundscapes, the production unpacks vulnerability, resilience, and the emotional weight of the past. As the story reaches its devastating climax, Jeff is left alone with the consequences of a love that still lingers in the shadows.

Featuring a powerful creative team from Mpumalanga’s growing theatre landscape, Uthunzi Lo’Thando continues the province’s bold contribution to contemporary South African storytelling.

On 01 May, step into a room guided by a powerful creative team — Ntlotliseng Keletso Matsabisa (2026 Naledi Theatre Award Best Ensemble with Afropocalypse), Khomotso Mathebula (Actor - Pimville SABC 2 Telenovela), Africa Zwelibanzi (Co-founder Notepad Poetry) alongside 2025 standing ovation award winners Lifa Mabena and Thulane Masango, as they lead you through a creative journey designed to build confidence and spark expression.
