A study from Stockholm University suggests that the egg may play a more active role in fertilization than many people once believed. Instead of simply waiting for the first s***m to arrive, the egg can influence which s***m it attracts.

The process involves chemical signals called chemoattractants, which are fluids released by the egg to help guide s***m toward it. Different eggs may release different signals, attracting s***m in different ways.

This means fertilization may not be only about speed, strength, or which s***m reaches the egg first. It may also involve chemical compatibility between the egg and s***m.

Researchers believe this could help explain why some reproductive combinations are more successful than others. The egg’s signals may favor s***m that better match its biochemical environment.

The finding adds a deeper layer to how fertilization is understood. It shows that reproduction can involve a complex biological exchange where the egg is an active and selective participant.

Air conditioning was never originally invented to keep people cool during summer. In 1902, engineer Willis Carrier was hired to solve a problem at a Brooklyn printing plant, where humidity was causing paper to expand and ink colors to misalign. His solution controlled both temperature and moisture in the air, creating the world’s first modern air-conditioning system. What began as a way to improve printing quality soon transformed everyday life. From homes and offices to hospitals, schools, and movie theaters, Carrier’s invention reshaped how people live, work, and stay comfortable around the world. ❄️🏙️

Israel invading Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to expand its control of Gaza from 60% to 70% of the territory despite the ceasefire that took effect in October.

We now control 60 percent of the territory in the strip... My directive is to move to 70 percent,” Netanyahu said.

Under the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces were expected to remain behind a demarcation known as the “yellow line,” but Israel has continued expanding its hold on Gaza.

Israel says the move is aimed at increasing pressure on Hamas, while talks on Hamas’s disarmament and an Israeli withdrawal remain stalled.

The announcement comes as Israel and Hamas continue accusing each other of violating the ceasefire amid ongoing violence in Gaza.

How do you survive the unthinkable—twice? 🤯

Meet Tsutomu Yamaguchi, the only man officially recognized as a "double hibakusha" (survivor of the atomic bomb). His story isn't just a miracle of survival; it’s a powerful call for global peace that the world must never forget.

On August 6, 1945, Yamaguchi was on a business trip in Hiroshima when "Little Boy" detonated just 3 km away. He survived with severe burns and ruptured eardrums. Miraculously, he boarded a train the next day to return home to his family in Nagasaki.

On August 9, while bandaged and reporting to work to explain the Hiroshima blast to his skeptical boss, the second bomb, "Fat Man," exploded. Once again, he was within 3 km of ground zero. Once again, he survived. 🕊

Yamaguchi lived to be 93, spending his final years as a tireless advocate for nuclear disarmament. He took his message all the way to the United Nations, famously stating: "I have done my duty."

📍 The Data of a Legend:

Hiroshima (Aug 6): Survived 13-kiloton blast (3 km from center).

Nagasaki (Aug 9): Survived 25-kiloton blast (3 km from center).

Advocacy: Addressed the UN at age 90 to demand the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Legacy: Died in 2010 at age 93, the only officially recognized double survivor.
