We have just returned from Algeria 🇩🇿 after activating the Africa Automotive Forum at the 2025 on behalf of the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM) and its strategic partners – , and the

This activation was the result of months of preparation, engaging captains of industry, government leaders and stakeholders across borders to ensure a two-day forum that addressed the key hurdles in Africa’s automotive pillar under the AfCFTA. Part of the programme featured a Ministerial Roundtable with Ministers responsible for the automotive sector from across the continent – a true Pan-African dialogue on industrialisation, mobility and trade.

Amongst other highlights, our Founder & Managing Director had the privilege of meeting His Excellency Wamkele Mene, who embodies Africa’s promise of impactful intra-African trade, and shared a moment with our own Minister of the Department of Trade, Industry & Competition (DTIC), Honourable

We are deeply grateful to the CEO and office bearers (Board) of the AAAM for their trust, and to the many subcontractors and service providers whose dedication made this forum a success.

For us, this was also a lesson in the power of Pan-African public relations and government affairs – navigating different cultures, languages and institutions to shape one coherent story of Africa’s automotive future.

As Nelson Mandela reminded us: “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

With the rise of electric vehicles (EVs), the conversation around mineral beneficiation has never been more important. Did you know that EVs depend on critical minerals like lithium and cobalt, making their sourcing and processing key to the industry’s future?

Makwana Public Relations is proud to support a client at the 2025 Mining Indaba, where we will explore how public-private partnerships and commodity-dependent countries can collaborate with the automotive sector to reshape industrial policies around these essential resources.
