A new website for Jamala Madikwe - Nico 🐘

We recently had the privilege of redesigning and rebuilding the website for Jamala Madikwe, an intimate luxury safari lodge with just five private villas in Madikwe Game Reserve.

Before we designed a thing, we spent a long time getting to know Jamala Madikwe. We read, researched, gathered notes and quite literally covered our desks, screens and walls in sticky notes.

All of that went into working out the right information architecture, structure and user journey for the website: what guests need to know, what makes Jamala Madikwe so special, and how we could make sure that came across clearly online.

This was built specifically for Jamala Madikwe, with a great deal of care around who they are and how their story, offering and experience should be presented.

And now it is live 🤍

Do badly timed cuts irritate you more than they should?

Does off-beat audio make your eye twitch?

Does a missing sound-design layer make you question your sanity?

We’re Haven & Hadley, a boutique hospitality marketing agency. We believe in unreasonable hospitality, unreasonable attention to detail, and work that people remember. Emotion, story, rhythm and sound matter.

We’re looking for a full-time Video Editor who:

• Cares about their craft
• Understands why things work (not just how)
• Can move between premium, polished edits and lo-fi, UGC-style content
• Knows that trends matter, but storytelling matters more
• Can work at a commercially realistic pace and meet agreed deadlines
• Communicates clearly, politely and promptly

This is not a side-hustle role.
And it’s not a template-clicking job.

If you tend to care more than anyone you know, and you can’t help it, this might be for you.

From the archives: harvest, 2026.

It is 2:00 am. We reach for the buzzing alarm in the dark.

Get dressed. Shoes on. Jackets zipped. Cameras ready. It is time.

We walk through the cellar to meet up with Roux, Saronsberg’s viticulturist. We climb into the bakkie and make our way towards the vineyards, the headlights cutting a path up the mountain.

Cold air moves through the valley. Dust lifts beneath our shoes as we walk. The team gathers quietly. Crates are pulled into place. Secateurs pass from hand to hand. Instructions travel through the rows. Nearby, the tractor idles, waiting for the first grapes.

Footsteps between the vines. Stems being clipped. Grapes landing in crates. Camera shutters clicking and recording lights blinking beneath the moonlight, while the stars keep watch overhead.

The first light is still hours away, but Harvest has begun.
