Can you eat donuts and still have abs?
The answer is...
Technically yes!
It all comes down to the "IIFYM" (if it fits your macros) principle.
This basically means you can eat ANYTHING you want as long as it fits into your total daily calorie and macro nutrient requirements (protein, carbohydrates and fats).
So basically what I'm saying, is if you eat donuts instead of oats for you choice of carbohydrates it will have no difference on your body composition (as long as your total calorie intake is equal and your macro targets are met).
Gaining body fat is all about excess calories NOT the types of foods that you consume. You can still get fat off broccoli and egg whites if your calories are in a surplus above your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure).
In regards to body composition there is no such thing as "good" and "bad" foods (unless you are talking about health). But in regards to "body composition" there is no list of foods your not allowed to eat. Don't think you have to give up "chocolate" just because you want to lose some fat.
JUST DON'T GET THE WRONG IDEA LOL!
Now I'm not saying that you should go out right now and slam back half a block of chocolate just because it "fits your macros".
You should still base your diet around GOOD HEALTHY NUTRITIOUS FOODS!
However... eating a donut or some chocolate (providing it fits your macros) won't negatively effect your body composition goals.
IIFYM is not a diet, it is not a lifestyle... it is just a philosophy that is intended to make your life easier!
IIFYM does NOT mean you can eat however much of whatever you want... It means you can maintain your SANITY by eating like a regular human being from time to time.
Just use commonsense and keep it in moderation!
No foods are "off limits" (unless your on a Keto diet then that’s a different story) BUT if your just following a traditional diet then no foods are off limits, they just need to be ACCOUNTED for!
Now go get shredded ... while enjoying that donut.
