Menu Refresh: Before & After

Case in point for why photography matters in menu design. This Bottle Packages menu started as pure type — functional, but forgettable. We staged a dedicated bottle shoot, rebuilt the layout around those visuals, and took the final design to print as a table talker for the restaurant.

Into The Fold - 000—4: Beefeater Activation & Campaign for Cocktail Saturday

One thing I keep learning: the concepts that work best aren't the ones that look the coolest — they're the ones that actually match what the brand is trying to say and how people are meant to live with it. With this Beefeater work, that meant letting the lifestyle side (the cocktail ritual, the Saturday mood) shape the craft side (pattern, colour, hierarchy) instead of the other way around.

We took the same thinking into a Beefeater activation and campaign, where we used a branded telephone booth — a nod to the brand's London roots, where the telephone booth is practically shorthand for the city itself — to capture that same Cocktail Saturday energy and turned it into a marketing vehicle for a 3-month campaign. Marketing gives you the "why," craft gives you the "how it feels" — and my job sits right in the middle of those two.

Chef Thami (Culinary Director & Co-founder), Ayanda (Operations Manager), Lisa (Chef de Partie), Andiswa Live (Chef Thami's Assistant & Liaison), and Liso (Art & Community Director) all weighed in.
