South Africa just told the US: B-BBEE is not for sale.
The US wants it scrapped. Says it blocks billions in investment. Warns AGOA could be gone by November.
Pretoria says no.
Minister Ntshavheni was blunt: scrapping B-BBEE is asking South Africa to keep apartheid's outcomes.
Her point? Apartheid was an economic crime. Families lost land. Workers were blocked. Black kids got an education for servitude.
In 1994, SA chose redress over retribution. B-BBEE is that redress. It's in the Constitution. Not a bargaining chip.
The US Ambassador has now been summoned three times. Accused of using media to push demands.
This could cost 250,000 jobs. Or it could defend dignity.
What do you think — should SA stand firm or compromise?
