South African marketing budgets are tightening while tool adoption climbs. Both things at once.
73% of South African organisations now use AI in marketing. 88% are on LinkedIn. And the group spending under R10,000 a month on social advertising grew from 53% to 60%.
Research elsewhere puts the same squeeze in sharper terms: small business AI adoption has climbed steeply, 47% of owners still handle all their own social media, and 74% expect to spend more time on marketing, not less.
AI did not give owners their time back. It moved the bottleneck from producing things to deciding which things were worth producing — and judgement does not scale by buying a licence.
That is the whole argument, and it is why we think the honest question now is not which tools you are using. It is whether you can tell what any of them did.
