Our heritage is our story. Our culture is our strength. 🇿🇦

This Heritage Day, we celebrate the languages, traditions, music, food, stories and shared experiences that make South Africa beautifully diverse.

Our heritage connects us to where we come from, shapes who we are today and inspires the future we continue to build together.

From all of us at Ascent Africa, we wish you a meaningful and joyful Heritage Day. May we continue to honour our differences, celebrate what unites us and carry our living heritage forward with pride.

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa! ❤️💛💚💙🖤🤍

There’s always that one person who makes everything look easy… until they go on leave. 😂

Suddenly, everyone realises that “just keeping the socials going” involves a lot more than opening Facebook and posting something.

It takes planning, strategy, content creation, community management and consistency to keep a brand showing up meaningfully.

So consider this your reminder to take your holiday properly. We’ll worry about the marketing. 😉

Your audience isn't living in one channel.

They're moving between conversations, screens, streets, radio, social platforms, communities and everyday experiences.

So why should your marketing assume there's only one way to reach them?

Effective communication isn't about being everywhere for the sake of it.

It's about understanding where people are, how they communicate there and what makes them pay attention.

Meet people where they are.

Then give them a reason to listen.

Behind our 4 nominations at the 2026 New Generation Social & Digital Awards are campaigns built on creativity, collaboration and purposeful storytelling.

These nominations celebrate more than the campaigns themselves. They reflect the thinking, planning and collaboration that went into developing work that could engage audiences, amplify important stories and create meaningful connections.

From using influential voices to drive conversation, to combining culture, music and storytelling, each campaign was shaped to meet audiences where they are and make an impact beyond the screen.

We’re incredibly proud of the teams and partners who helped bring this work to life. A big thank you to PRASA for trusting us with your brand and to The New Generation Awards for recognising the creativity, strategy and purpose behind these campaigns.

If you've ever sat in a meeting where everyone agreed on the brief… and somehow walked away with five completely different interpretations, this one's for you.

Good marketing isn't just about having ideas.

It's about asking the right questions until everyone is on the same page.

Because sometimes the best thing a marketing team can say is:

“Okay. But what do you actually mean?”

Long before brands worried about algorithms, people were already doing one thing exceptionally well:

Telling stories.
We told them around fires.
We passed them from one generation to another.
We used them to teach, entertain, warn, remember and connect.

Technology has changed how stories travel.

It hasn't changed why they matter.

And perhaps that's the reminder marketers need most: algorithms can determine who sees a story.

They can't determine whether the story is worth remembering.

We all know that one person.

The one with 47 tabs open, 3 new ideas before breakfast, and absolutely no idea what they’re doing next.

Now imagine that person is your brand. A little self-awareness can go a long way in marketing.

Before you decide what to say, where to say it, or how often to say it, you need to understand who your brand is, and who you want it to be.

Because a strong brand isn’t just about looking good. It’s about having a clear personality, a consistent voice, and knowing how you want people to feel when they interact with you.

So which personality is your brand?

We often talk about literacy as the ability to read and write.

But in marketing, literacy is also about knowing how to read people.

Their behaviours. Their context. Their culture. Their frustrations. The things they say , and the things they don't.

Because audiences aren't just consuming messages. They're interpreting them through their own experiences.

The brands that understand this don't simply communicate.

They connect.

Yesterday, we saw the work behind an event come together in the room.

As the marketing agency supporting Spinnaker Support, Ascent Africa’s role in the CxO Series started well before the event itself.

We helped promote the event, build visibility with the right audience and make sure the branded collateral and marketing touchpoints were ready to bring the Spinnaker Support brand to life on the day.

Then came the moment every marketer looks forward to: seeing the right people in the room, having the right conversations.

The CxO Series brought senior leaders together for meaningful discussions, fresh perspectives and valuable connections, and we were proud to play a role in helping create that experience.

A few moments from yesterday. ✨

Thank you to Spinnaker Support and The CxO Series for having us as part of the journey.

Planning an executive event and want to build visibility, attract the right audience and deliver a seamless brand experience? Let’s talk.
