WHO GETS TO TELL AFRICA’S STORY?

Last week, we brought photographers, visual storytellers and creative entrepreneurs together in Johannesburg for the Real Stories. Lasting images. The archive of now. PICHA × CoLab Roundtable.

We came together to talk about the future of African photography but more importantly, to ask what it will take to build that future together.

We spoke about:

Building sustainable creative careers
Who gets to shape Africa’s visual narrative

Community, collaboration and opportunity
AI and the future of photography
Ownership, licensing and creative IP

But the biggest takeaway?

What gets remembered.

So what happens when African photographers have more ownership over the stories they tell?
On 26 September, PICHA × CoLab are bringing Johannesburg photographers, visual storytellers and creative entrepreneurs together at WeWork Rosebank for an intimate roundtable exploring the future of African photography.
