Offer description

We are looking to employ a highly efficient kitchen porter to perform all washing, cleaning and basic meal preparation duties required in our kitchen. The kitchen porter's responsibilities include cutting and portioning meat, informing the supervisor when food supplies are low, and appropriately storing washed dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. You should also be able to accurately measure ingredients as per the chef’s instructions.

To be successful as a kitchen porter, you should display excellent communication skills and be able to follow instructions. Ultimately, an exceptional kitchen porter should adhere to food health and safety regulations while carrying out all kitchen duties.

Kitchen Porter Responsibilities:
Cleaning and sanitizing all meal preparation areas as well as kitchen walls, stoves, sinks, ovens, and grills.
Sweeping and mopping all kitchen areas during shifts and at the end of shifts.
Washing dirty dishes, cutting boards, utensils, and cooking equipment.
Ensuring that food mixers, cookers, and other cooking equipment are in good working order.
Receiving and unpacking all deliveries.
Emptying, re-lining, and washing garbage cans as required.

Ensure that rooms and public areas are cleaned and sanitized to company-mandated standards Ensures that rooms have clean linen, bedding and towels Understands and follows all safety and security procedures as mandated by the hotel Maintain knowledge of hotel property, hotel staff, hotel services, hotel service hours of operation, and hotel surroundings (i.e. mall, restaurants) Ensures that rooms are stocked with soap, tissues, drinking glasses, etc. Identify items that guests have left behind and report items utilizing hotel's lost and found procedures Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to multitask Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Team player Ability to exceed expectations of guests Knowledge of cleanliness standards

Cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, sweeping, waxing floors and vacuuming
Refilling supplies, such as toilet paper and paper towels
Cleaning spills, broken glass and other messes up as quickly as possible
Coordinating cleaning duties in order not to disturb daily store activities
Performing maintenance activities related to cleaning such as ensuring bathrooms and kitchen areas are sanitary
Ordering new cleaning supplies as needed.
Cleaner skills and qualifications
Essential skills include:
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Proactivity and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely
Excellent time management skills
