A classic play on words. Instead of a joke being “well told,” a graphic designer prefers theirs “well-illustrated” bringing visual storytelling into the punchline.

The Setup is an elegant, editorial and full of high contrast drama. Its narrow proportions and delicate, high contrast serifs bring a sophisticated, classic tone to the question. The punchline uses Space Mono font which is a geometric, utilitarian and distinctly digital. “They always fade into something better.” In real life, “fading” usually implies fading away, fading out, or deteriorating. In graphic design, however, a colour gradient literally fades out of its starting shade and transitions into a fresh, vibrant new colour.

Pink Sunset a bold, retro display serif font with high contrast and decorative swashes. Its playful, decorative flourishes give the setup line an upbeat and expressive personality.

Saint Matthew acts as the deep, low value shade. It stabilises the gradient, providing heavy visual weight and rich shadow tones that keep the composition grounded.

Nobel Red serves as the primary mid-tone red. It carries the highest saturation in the stack, giving the palette its signature warmth and colour vitality.
