Seek – Burger King

Our journey with Burger King started in 2018. Seek provides all internal and external signage.

Currently (2021), we are busy with the installations of four new stores using the new Burger King CI. For this project, we engaged directly with Burger King in Europe on behalf of Burger King South Africa on producing samples and drawings of the new CI to meet international requirements.

The biggest hurdle to overcome working with the new CI was sourcing materials locally that meet the international conditions. The Di-Noc woodgrain vinyl, which is specialised outdoor vinyl, was unavailable locally and had to be shipped directly from overseas.

Seek – Benmore Shopping Centre

Benmore Centre is situated in the world-class Sandton district. The modern 23 028.40sqm mall offers convenient day-to-day shopping, unique boutique experiences, and provides a selection of food outlets.

In 2018, Seek had the opportunity to do a total refurbishment of the centre. From the external signage to the internal wayfinding displays and bathroom signage, were revamped.

Most of the external signage was installed onto aluminium cladding. This project’s biggest challenge was coordination with the cladding supplier.

Seek – ABSA Lumen

Seek, our signage and wayfinding service provider, was involved in designing and installing Absa’s sign on the Absa building located in Johannesburg’s CBD in 2019.

Positioned 40 storeys in the air, this sign was installed on all four sides of the building, with each face being 40m wide and 20m high. The overall Absa logo was 15m x 15m.

Interesting facts:
• 3200 sheets of ACM had to be ordered to clad the structure and was shipped directly from China.
• Cladding was done over 2 months.
• Absa sign is fabricated channel letters.
• The sign has 5500 white and 4800 RGB LEDs.
• The logo took 7 weeks to install.

We are proud to have been part of one of the most recognisable icons currently lighting up Cape Town’s skyline.

LUNO – Seek Signage & Wayfinding

Seek, our signage and wayfinding service provider, designed and installed the Luno name on The Box in Cape Town’s city centre.

The letters, weighing almost 140kg each, had to be dropped down 150m by rope to be assembled by our team.

Each letter is 5.2 meters in length, has a 700 mm thick stroke, and is 250mm deep.

Stainless steel threaded rod is used to secure the structure of the building.
The signage is also chemically anchored to the wall.

LUNO – Seek Signage & Wayfinding

The Luno project took a team of 10 just over 6 weeks to install.

The signage was installed using rope access 150m in the air.

To facilitate the task, each letter was made into multiple sections to fit the signage into the goods’ lift of the building and the stairwell.

Luno – Seek Signage & Wayfinding

Like most of Seek’s projects, this one did not come without its challenges.

It took four loads to get the four Luno letters, each weighing almost 140kg, from Johannesburg to The Box building at 9 Riebeeck Street.

The team’s biggest struggle was the wind. The wind was often 2 to 3 times stronger compared to ground level.

2 months were needed for the manufacturing of the signage.

LUNO – Seek Signage & Wayfinding

Proud to see our signage on top of The Box building in Riebeeck Street, Cape Town.

The Luno letters are fabricated channel letters. These structures are internally illuminated with white LEDs.

Each letter is 5.2 meters in length, has a 700 mm thick stroke, and is 250mm deep.

Material used on this project includes:
• 150 sheets of opal perspex
• 300 sheets of aluminium
• 3800 LEDs
