When Zweli Mthethwa, Lebohang Mokoena, Tshepo Mohlatlole and I decided to join the MTN App of the year Hackathon, we were thinking of making some groundbreaking application. Something super fancy with your micro-interactions and all of the unnecessary features of applications.

A week before the actual Hackathon we got hit by a power cut that lasted 2 weeks and few days, this frustrated us so much because we had plans of killing it at the hackathon.

That's when we realized that the only problem worth solving on the list of the problem statements we were given was service delivery. We came up with Karen, the app where you can make and track your reports.

Why am I only posting about this today? because it's happening again, no electricity for the past 3 days, and we still don't have a platform to report the problem.

I wasn't having a really good day today... When I started this artwork I was planning on having a simple cartoon portrait but then I remembered how fun it is to splatter paint around when you are painting.. then I went all out with the paint splash brush.

If you know me you know I'm a sucker for vintage errthang. This one was inspired by the pose... I looked at this and the movie set it off staring Queen Latifah started playing in my head... with the movie being released in 1996, and cameras in SA not being that advanced to take dope pictures... I imagined how the picture would have looked now if it was found in an old trunk from granny's luggage that went through the most... and this what I came up with.
