HP is announcing widespread improvements to its security portfolio including security management software, services, IPS platform and even printer security.
The company is announcing the addition of HP Correlation Optimized Retention and Retrieval Engine (CORR-Engine) to its security management platform called Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) 6.0c. This adds the intelligence to sort through traffic five times faster to find potential threats, prioritize them and reduce the impact of attacks.

ESM 6.0c can also store log data using 20 times less space than previous versions. The software can ID who is on the network, what they are doing and whether it represents a threat. The platform creates workflows for dealing with security incidents it identifies.
ESM 6.0c is available in October.
HP is addressing data center concerns with Data Center Protection Services which starts with an optimization service that assesses customer infrastructure and makes recommendations on how to consolidate and streamline defenses. A second service, Governance, Risk and Compliance Readiness, evaluates whether organizations measure up to new security regulations and recommends how to keep up. A third called Data Center Protection Management Service, evaluates management and monitoring with an eye toward recommending improvements.
HP has expanded its Security for Public Sector services with three new offerings:
" HP Assured Identity: This identity, credential and access management is available as a service or as software on-premises to guard against insider threats, manage identities, and simplify information sharing.
" HP Comprehensive Applications Threat Analysis (CATA) on Demand: This application-development life cycle helps make apps more secure.
" HP Security Operations Center (SOC) Consulting Services: These services enable cybersecurity operations centers for public sector clients outside the U.S., and can include assistance managing the centers.
HP also announces a faster IPS platform for data centers called HP TippingPoint NX Platform.
HP addresses printer security with access control to printers that is designed for healthcare settings to limit where users can print sensitive documents. Its Imagig and Printing Security Center platform centralizes the application of security policies across an organizations printers. HP is also launching a printer security assessment service to identify problems.
