When it comes to reaching hearts and minds on emerging matters, film-making is an incredibly powerful force of communication. “Capturing Water” follows community activism efforts working to ensure that all the citizens of Cape Town, not only the ‘haves’, can access clean and running water in the face of climate adaptation.

We are proud to have supported the first Johannesburg screening of “Capturing Water”, produced and directed by Rehad Desai.

Here’s a we loved looking back on!

A few spring seasons ago, the awesome folks at Kettering Foundation visited Mzansi’s shores for a series of meetings and workshops under their “Democracy around the Globe” programme.

Never one to simply do the job, we absolutely enjoyed following and interacting with the participants who are some of society’s brightest minds when it comes to answering the question of how to get citizens active in matters of democracy.

We also met the awesome papa Bing and ma Audrey Davis, who are officially our honorary grandparents. They are celebrated artists and teachers whose work across the art community speaks volumes.

We had theeee best participants during our parallel at Afrotellers! Development and creative practitioners gave us eye-opening angles that we could use to craft and narrate the stories of those living on the margins.

In our session titled “𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀”, we introduced the objective and concept of the Different Sides platform which brings the voices and journeys of the many sides of society. The differentiator is the manner which this will foster intersectional collaboration, find authentic narratives and bring about skills transfer. The long term vision is to build a multi-media and inter-gen platform that connects the different sides of society, now matter how far apart they may be.

Our studio lens was recently on court for the SPAR Challenge, where male netball raised the curtain for the main attraction of South Africa's Proteas and England's Roses. Johannesburgers came out in their numbers to fill up the Ellis Park Arena and paint the streets of the city green and gold.

We played around with sequencing, grading and other editing techniques to commemorate what was a massive win for the nation. A new core memory is officially locked in!

We had the absolute joy of collaborating with .sa and capturing each of the female motorheads as they showed off their skills to the awesome crowd in attendance.
