South Africa is being invited to step onto the global stage of health innovation as the “Go Healthy with Taiwan 2026” campaign officially launches its national call for proposals. Led by Taiwan’s internationally respected health and innovation sector, the campaign is searching for practical, scalable ideas that can improve lives through health technology, fitness innovation, wellness systems, cycling solutions, sports science, smart healthcare, and preventative wellbeing. At a time when healthcare systems worldwide face mounting pressure, the campaign arrives with a message of hope: innovation does not only belong in laboratories — it belongs in communities, schools, clinics, universities, businesses, and everyday lives....

From Everest to Impact: One Woman’s Summit Delivers 8,849 Acts of Dignity Across South Africa

One year after summiting Mount Everest via the North Side, South African mountaineer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Angela Yeung has fulfilled a promise that began at 8,849 metres above sea level. For every metre climbed on Everest, one bra was pledged to restore dignity to women and girls affected by Gender-Based Violence and vulnerable living conditions across South Africa. Today, all 8,849 bras collected through the Impilo Collection Foundation’s campaign are being distributed across all nine provinces through shelters, women’s organisations, and frontline support structures. The campaign became a powerful national movement during the 16 Days of Activism 2025, culminating in a public installation of 8,849 bras at Constitution Hill beside the historic Women’s Jail — transforming a symbol of hardship into one of dignity, hope, and collective action....

Your business is always talking to you. Are you listening?

By Thuto Motsie CA(SA) who is the CEO of Thamani Spend enough time around CEOs and founders, and a pattern emerges. No matter the industry, whether professional services, property, manufacturing or retail, the same question surfaces, often framed differently: “How are we really doing?” It is usually asked in a boardroom. Sometimes over coffee. Occasionally in moments of quiet concern when something just does not feel right. The uncomfortable truth is this: your business has already answered that question. The issue is not whether the answer exists. It is whether you are actually paying attention....

NEW PILOT BACKS YOUTH-OWNED MICRO-FARMING START-UPS TO TACKLE JOBS CRISIS AND FOOD INSECURITY

South Africa is grappling with two interconnected challenges: persistently high youth unemployment and declining local food production. A new pilot is testing whether both can be tackled at once by developing unemployed youth into micro-farming entrepreneurs. A farming initiative led by non-profit organisation Afrika Tikkun, and funded and supported by impact investor E Squared Investments, is positioning small-scale agritech as a viable start-up opportunity for young people to earn an income and build sustainable livelihoods while contributing to local food security and economic growth. Launched earlier this week, the Green Acres Hydro-Coop programme at Afrika Tikkun’s Green Acres Farm in Diepsloot is equipping a cohort of 20 trailblazers, including 19 resilient young women and one determined young man with a disability, to run revenue-generating micro-farming ventures using Hydro-Coop units designed to function in urban, rural and remote environments with limited infrastructure....

Strength Training for Longevity: Building a Body That Lasts

By Johan Nel, Marketing Co-ordinator at NPL Nutritional Performance Labs Most people pick up their first set of weights with one thing in mind: how they look. It is a perfectly reasonable place to start. But if that is the only reason you are training, you are missing the bigger picture by a considerable margin. The most compelling argument for strength training has nothing to do with aesthetics. It is about how well your body functions at 60, 70 and beyond. It is about staying independent, staying sharp and staying out of the doctor's surgery....

Micro moments are greater than macro meltdowns

By Penelope Meniere, National Marketing Manager at Workshop17 More than eight in ten employees are currently at risk of burnout (The Interview Guys), and yet the conversation around fixing it keeps circling the same territory: better systems, bigger goals, another productivity framework. What if the answer is considerably less ambitious than that? We’ve become so fixated on milestones… the promotions, the big wins, the quarterly targets hit… that we’ve stopped paying attention to the actual texture of a working day. The in-between bits. The almost-nothing stuff that gets dismissed before it’s even registered....
