A friend of mine sent this to me. I changed it to web designer, it applies to all of us…

 A CONVERSATION ABOUT PERCEIVED VALUE:

A customer asked a me friend how much it would cost to do this project.

I gave him a proposal: R 4500

The customer responded: That’s seems really high.

I asked: What do you think is a reasonable price for this job?

The customer answered: R 2500 maximum

I responded: Okay, then I invite you to do it yourself.

The customer answered: I don't know how to.

I responded: Alright, then how about for R 2500 I'll teach you how to. So besides saving you R 2000, you'll learn valuable skills that will benefit you in the future.

The customer answered: Sounds good! Let’s do it!

I responded: Great! To get started, you are going to need some tools. You will need a domain, web host, computer, Photoshop, illustrator and more software including Elementor, SEO knowledge, hi-speed internet connection, etc..

The customer answered: But I don't have any of those tools and I can't justify buying all of these for one project.

I responded: Okay. Well then for an additional R 300 I can rent my system to you to use for this project...when I’m not busy with other projects.

The customer answered: Okay. That’s fair.

I responded: Great! We will start the project on Monday.

The customer answered: I work Monday through Friday. I’m only available on the weekends.

I responded: If you want to learn from me then you will need to work when I work. This project will take 2
Weeks, so you will need to take a few weeks off work.

The customer answered: That means I’m going to have to sacrifice my pay for 2 weeks or use my vacation time!

I responded: That’s true. Remember, when you do a job yourself you need to account for unproductive factors.

The customer answered: What do you mean by that?

I responded: Doing a job completely from start to finish includes time spent to plan the project, design mock-ups, travel time and time for meetings and phone calls among other things. That’s all in addition to the actual project itself. And speaking of mock-ups, when we start on Monday I need you to have a basic site map and design at 6:00 am.

The customer answered: At 6 am?!! My work day doesn’t usually start until 8 am!

I responded: Well then you’re in luck! My plan is to start on the actual design in a sandbox by 8 am. But to do so we have to start at 6 am to get everything ready so we can have a cohesive brand and direction.

The customer answered: You know, I’m realizing that a lot more goes in to a job than what a customer sees in the finished project. Your proposal of R 4500 is very reasonable. I would like you to handle the project.

CONCLUSION:

When you pay for a job, especially a custom job, (whether it’s a physical project or digital project) you pay not only for the material and the work to be completed. You also pay for:

✔️ Knowledge
✔️ Experience
✔️ Custom Skills
✔️ Tools
✔️ Time to plan
✔️ Time to prepare
✔️ Professionalism
✔️ Work Ethic
✔️ Excellence
✔️ Discipline
✔️ Commitment
✔️ Integrity
✔️ Taxes
✔️ Licenses
✔️ Sacrifices
✔️ Liabilities
✔️ Insurance

If you request a proposal for custom work to be done, please don’t disrespect a service provider by trying to get them to lower their prices.

If their proposal exceeds your budget, there’s nothing wrong with getting other proposals.

Just remember.. you get what you pay for.

👉🏼 SERVICE PROVIDERS: Know your worth and be confident in it.

👉🏼 CONSUMERS: Recognize their worth and be respectful of it.

Sharing this to support all my friends, family and clients who are Entrepreneurs, Business Owners and Tradesman.

Two months back, I went to get a meal at Woolies food after finishing the day's shopping at the mall with the prudence dictated by the new normal. Mask, Sanitizer and social distance.
I made my purchases that were small, and when I was in line to pay, between taking the money and storing the phone, the R200 note I had to pay fell on the floor, and the man who was in front of me finished paying, put his purchases in the box, slowly bent down and picked up my note.
How much education in pandemic times - I thought. I held out my hand, waiting for him to return it, trying to stay away, so that he would feel safe, while thanking the gesture.
But what he said to me was - What's on the floor belongs to whoever finds it! - and left ... naturally, as if he hadn't done anything wrong.
I looked at the lady behind me and the people next to me and they all looked at me in shock and disbelief, whispering things between them.
For a moment I was beside myself. This thief was taking me for an idiot! I wanted to do justice on my own ... I left my purchases, because I had no way to pay (I had left the bank card in the car), and went after him to the parking lot, to have my R200 returned.
However, I realized that the people who were closest to the line came after me, curious to see what was going to happen ...
I spoke to him demanding my money, but he just looked at me with contempt and acted like I was invisible.
When he got to the car, he slowly put his two shopping bags on the floor to take the key out of his pocket and open the boot, and I thought - It's now or never!
I took the two bags and told him the same thing he had said to me - What is on the floor belongs to those who find it! - and I started running towards the basement where my car was parked, between fright and laughter, proud of my revenge.
The spectators started to applaud and I saw that after all the “smart guy” had been irritated, because he left the parking lot dropping a few safety pins to his passage.
I swear I felt a rush of adrenaline, fright and nervousness, but then I cried laughing.
When I got home I opened the bags and found:
- 2 kg prawns
- 1 kg of salmon
- Black and green olives
- Ham, cheese and yogurt of two flavors
- 1 brown bread
- 1 bottle of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 bottle of white wine
- 2 bottles of red wine
- 2 jars of jam
- 2 kg of very good quality sausages
- 1 jar of mayonnaise
- 1 jar of mustard
I had never made so many purchases with just R200.
And now there I was ... Koore bona! Im having a glass of wine, eating that rich Salmon and thinking - am I a vigilante or a vindictive person?
Did you read this over here?
This obviously did not happen to me. It's just a campaign to promote reading!
Reading stimulates the mind and imagination, makes us travel to other places and even helps communication.
Copy and paste and steal a smile from your friends.😜🤪🤣

So you know there’s this guy named Jeff Bezos

and he has this little company called Amazon.

Maybe you’ve heard of it?

Of course, you do. But what you probably don’t know is that Jeff Bezos has added an additional 34 BILLION dollars to his net worth during this crisis.

Oh, and he’s now the richest man in the world.

So why am I telling you this?

Because the current lockdown period has opened up

a very special limited-time opportunity for ANYONE to

stake their claim in the multi-billion rand ecom pie.

And it’s not just Jeff Bezos.

There are tons of everyday stores that are seeing

some AMAZING growth and profits with their ecom
businesses too.
