STOP the Panic: Your Private DMs are NOT Training Meta AI! 🛑

A rumor has gone viral claiming Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) is about to start scanning all your private chats for AI training. Here is the reality, straight from Meta:

Your Private Messages are SAFE: Meta does not use the content of private, end-to-end encrypted messages with friends and family (on Messenger or WhatsApp) to train its AI models or personalize content.

The Exception: The only time your chat content is used is if you voluntarily summon or tag the Meta AI assistant into a chat. By doing this, you are explicitly giving permission for that interaction to be analyzed to train the AI and help tune your recommendations.

The Actual Policy Change: The recent privacy policy update only expands on how your direct interactions with the Meta AI assistant (e.g., prompts you give the AI) will be used to personalize your feed and ads.

The Bottom Line: Don't forward the rumor. If you want your private chats to remain completely private, simply do not tag or talk to the Meta AI assistant inside those threads.
