🚧 A quick update for the community about the Monkey Mountain upgrades. Some of you may have heard that work hasn't started yet, so here is the real story.
Construction officially began on September 1, 2026. It may look quiet from the viewing area, and that's for a good reason. Zoo officials confirmed that workers only enter the enclosure on certain days.
On the quieter days, Punch and his troop get to go back out onto the mountain so they don't feel cooped up or stressed. Feeding times continue as normal throughout, so his routine and care stay steady even while the mountain changes around him.
Because the viewing area is fenced off for safety, it can seem like nothing is happening. But behind the scenes, the heat protection and new soil upgrades are moving forward. ☀️🏗️ In a way, it mirrors Punch's own story. Growth and healing often happen quietly, out of sight, before anything looks different on the surface.
The rest of the zoo remains fully open, so a visit to see Punch and his troop is still very much worth planning. 🦫✨
Where in the world are you watching him from? 🌍💛
