The Kokstad Advertiser is the longest running independent community newspaper which has proudly served Kokstad and the surrounding communities for over 140 years. It is a weekly newspaper distributing 12 000 copies every Thursday, which was started by an African American, Hubert Stephan “Yankee” Wood. The first publication of this newspaper was published on 6 May 1882. The objectives of this newsp

aper are very clearly set out in its first edition and we are sure the high principles displayed then have been continued over the 100 years. To this day, the Kokstad Advertiser is the most popular local newspaper in The East Griqualand and Northern Eastern Cape areas bringing it’s readers the very latest in community news, school news, municipal affairs and local sport.

The Greater Kokstad Municipality has officially handed over a new fleet of vehicles to boost service delivery! 🚀 Here’s how these new additions will be serving our community:

Meet the New Fleet:

• Crew Cab Truck: 🚛 Efficiently transporting teams for Roads and Civil infrastructure projects, even in tough weather.

• Modern Skyjack: 🏗️ Enhancing the Electrical Division’s ability to maintain streetlights and power lines with the latest technology.

• Sedan: 🚗 Supporting our Librarians and Community & Social Services in their outreach efforts.

• 4x4 Disaster Management Unit: 🌨️ Equipped with heavy-duty winches for winter rescues and off-road emergency responses.

• Technical Bakkie: 🛻 Used by supervisors for road inspections and by the Finance Department for rural meter reading.

• Skid Steer Loader: 🏗️ A versatile machine with multiple attachments for pothole patching and road rehabilitation.
