20 x Vacancy for Child and Youth Care Worker in eThekwini
We are inviting suitably qualified Child and Youth Care Workers who meet the below criteria, MUST be someone living within the 3 sub-districts mentioned above, who will be able to service children in the areas and surroundings of these sub-districts. Alternatively, must be willing to relocate to this area, to apply for the position of Child and Youth Care Worker.
This is a contract post and further renewal of contracts is dependent on funding and performance.

• Qualified CYCW with an FETC Child and Youth Care Work or Social Worker Intern
• Registration with South African Council for Social Service Professions.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Have strong family and other support systems.
• Competency (Speak, Read, and Write) in English
• The following will be advantageous:
o Competency in IsiZulu
o Experience in HIV/AIDS and TB programs
o Experience in community child and youth care work
o Being trained in LIVE, Vhutshilo 3, CHOMMY, KidzAlive, and PrEP will be advantageous.
CYCW’s will be required to provide high impact services and structured programs to HIV infected and affected
Orphans, Vulnerable Children, adolescents, and Youth (OVCA&Y).
The following responsibilities will be required of
successful candidates.
• Develop professional relationships with orphans, vulnerable children and youth and their families.
• Conduct HIV and TB risk screening
• Network and liaise with relevant Department of Health facilities, and organizations and resources in the community.
• Make appropriate referrals and linkages for HIV+ beneficiaries.
• Advocate and uphold the rights of children and youth at risk
• Provide individual care and support to the children, youth and families in their life space.
