TWO ROSHUNVILLE PRIMARY SCHOOL LEARNERS AND DRIVER DIE IN TRAGIC ROAD ACCIDENT
The North West Department of Education has expressed deep sadness following a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of two learners from Roshunville Primary School and their driver.
The fatal accident occurred on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, on the road between Schweizer-Reneke and Amalia.
According to reports, the private vehicle transporting the learners allegedly collided with a bakkie while returning home from extra classes.
The deceased include a Grade R learner, a Grade 6 learner, and the driver of the vehicle, who all died at the scene. A parent and another learner who were travelling in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and are currently recovering in hospital.
North West MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the affected families and called on communities to pray against the increasing number of learner-related accidents in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.
The Department indicated that details regarding memorial and funeral services will be communicated after consultations with the bereaved families have been finalised.
