Is your fire alarm panel showing OPEN CIRCUIT, LOOP OPEN or a similar fault?
That warning should not simply be silenced and ignored.
An open circuit normally means part of the monitored fire detection circuit has been interrupted. Depending on the system, this could affect detectors, manual call points, sounders or other fire alarm devices.

loose connections
removed detectors
renovation or electrical work
damaged devices
incorrect end-of-line components

“Which part of my building is no longer properly protected?”
Our latest guide explains what an open circuit means, what SANS 10139 expects, and what a facilities manager should do next.
