Thank you for the incredible opportunity to have a stand at the Halloween No-lights Climbing event on the 31st of October. It was such a joy to be part of the event and share my children’s book, The Tale of Peter the Pumpkin, with all the attendees.

A special shoutout to all my customers — and of course Taryn for the absolutely epic carved pumpkins! They added such a magical touch to the atmosphere and helped bring the Halloween spirit to life. 🎃

The difference between “who” and “whom” is confusing for native and non-native English speakers alike. In that sense, it is similar to “lay” vs. “lie”, which we covered in a previous article.

Both “who” and “whom” are pronouns, which means they take the place of nouns. In some contexts, we use “who” or “whom” when a person’s name is unknown. “To Whom It May Concern,” is a common salutation that we see in business letters. We use it when we want to formally address someone (such as the hiring manager of a company), but we don’t know that individual’s name.

But why don’t we write “To who it may concern”? Why do we use “whom” and not “who”? We will examine “who” and “whom” more closely, and you will learn a trick to help you keep them straight.

'Verbs that end in -ing can be tricky for English language learners and even for native speakers. Sometimes the -ing verb is partnered with a form of “to be” to form the continuous (also known as the progressive) tense. Other times, the -ing verb is a gerund, which means it functions as a noun in the sentence where it is used.
