HEAD OF NEWS & CURRENT AFFAIRS
Mpuma Kapa TV, a Television Broadcasting concern based in Gqeberha, Port Elizabeth, but with an
extensive geographic footprint both locally and nationally, seeks to appoint a person whose principal
function will be to successfully create News Programming and Editing thereof.
Key Performance Areas will include:
Assemble daily news bulletin
Grow news viewership
Identify and report on breaking news
Develop capacity of newsroom staff
Devise and implement newsroom vision
Manage relationships with stakeholders
Submit reports to the Head of Channel
The ideal candidate should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Journalism or Media
Studies. A minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Senior Television News Journalist or News Editor.
Additionally, the successful candidate should demonstrate solid knowledge of writing news for online
platforms and show a good understanding of Media Law and Media Economics. Knowledge of the South
African Constitution and other relevant texts, as well as computer literacy and fluency in English and
Xhosa, are further prerequisites. The ability to function in a team and independently, work according to
strict deadlines and exhibit a passion for Broadcasting and the development of content, will be
favourably considered.
A cost-to-company package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered to the
successful candidate.
