Weekly Safety Update | SITI in Action

SITI officers, together with Law Enforcement Rent-a-Cop Officers and safety partners, continued active patrols and responses across the SITI-SRA area this past week.

Key incidents attended to included theft out of vehicle, a motor vehicle accident, medical assistance, infrastructure-related complaints such as blocked drainage and a burst water pipe, as well as various by-law and public nuisance complaints.

Officers also addressed incidents relating to illegal structures, an illegal fire, public drinking, public sleeping, vagrancy and the possession of a dangerous weapon. Mandrax and tik pipes were confiscated and destroyed, while parking violations were addressed through the issuing of fines.

Arrests made during the week included:
* Possession of suspected stolen property linked to theft out of vehicle
* Possession of suspected illegal substances

These interventions form part of ongoing efforts to maintain a safe, clean and well-managed environment within the SITI-SRA area.

As we celebrate Youth Month, we are proud to share a story of growth, determination, and opportunity.

In July last year, Ayabulela Mzamane joined the VRCID for work experience after graduating from the Chrysalis Academy, Tokai. During his time with us, he demonstrated exceptional commitment and a willingness to learn, obtaining his school qualifications, his driver’s license, and proving himself to be a valuable member of the team.

Today, Ayabulela has secured a permanent position with Securitas.

At a time when youth unemployment remains one of South Africa’s greatest challenges, partnerships with organisations such as Chrysalis Academy Tokai play a vital role in creating opportunities for young people to gain experience, develop skills, and build meaningful careers.
