ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
This program focuses into two sections, the first section will be based on helping each other as students in our residence and it may split to other residences if they like this programme. We wish to fight against with an issue of the loss of our clothes in lines in our residents in a good way than it was used by students in the past. We also like to promote student Unity and
supporting those students who are needy those who come from poor background. The other section our program will focus on is to give back to the community as they are part of our lives by taking donated clothes which have been also not preferred to be taken by our resident student, we will therefore take all those clothes to orphans shelter and in streets. This programme will need its support from students and all members who can support this programme and the department of Housing if possible though the process of this programme. NEED FOR EXISTENCE
We have seen an opportunity to make students involve them self in taking initiative in helping each other and to promote more unity in our students and try accommodate those students who don’t have sufficient money to dress up in a presented way, this will help all our students to be free to speak with all personal problems they have or face in future and by doing so we would live in the better environment. This programme will also teach our students to lay hands on the poor people for future purposes. AIM
We want to try to come up with a better solution in preventing thieves who steals our clothes in the line which might happen that some of the thieves steals because they don’t have sufficient money to dress up them self,
We want to abolish the old way which was used by students of killing others if they caught them stealing their clothes but to bring a mature action to deal with our thieves. Try to accommodate those students who come from poor background home, an help them with clothes and food, we might give to them. Promote the spirit of Unity and brotherhood within our residence where everyone will be free to talk about his personal problems therefore students will be able to study hard without problems. PROCEDURE
Went door to door to approach the idea in students and plead for donations and most of the students acted positive in this programme. We will put in place donation cans for collecting donations such as in:
Retail Stores
Church
Other DUT residents
We will also collect all clothes that might be donated by students and offer them to student and also in street kids if possible, if students are not comfortable in using clothes that have been use by other students in the same resident we will use funds donated to purchase the other clothes. The process of helping these students will occur in a respective way the student will not be given in public his/her package but as other students will feel uncomfortable with that being called in public. As this involves funds of all our residence students we suggest them to come secretly in the members of the body and report those student they suspect from being poor and the body will do a research based on that student and we will talk to that student. Students will be encouraged to report any misuse of their money if any students use fault statements to obtain this help, as this involves all our funds therefore it will be important for any student to have a say. We will also go to Retail shops to ask the managers that they offer part time jobs to students, especially to those students who can handle both the job and their school work. We will need people from humble beginnings to give testimonials from personal experience about the happy and positive life they live against all odds of life so that students may be encouraged to live life positively in all seasons of life. OUTCOME OF THE PROGRAMME
We want to see this programme being beneficial to all students that need help and also limit the number of clothes stolen in our residence
We also want to see every student being accommodated in our residence, and have the unity and spirit of love as this involve students helping their peers and have a healthy environment where UBUNTU is our principle. We also wish to see this programme expanding to other residences in MIDLANDS CAMPUS, if possible.
‘’WE BELIEVE THAT IF YOU LOOK GOOD, YOU FEEL GOOD & DO GOOD’’ THEREFORE OUR STUDENTS CAN BE BEST INTELLECTUALS.
