UPDATE ON REPAIRS TO TWO 132kV OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION TOWERS
(Chatty/Bloemendal 132kV & Chatty/Rowallan Park 132kV)

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has confirmed that electricity supply can be partially restored to certain areas through network back-feeding and load-reduction measures. These interventions are being implemented on a rotational basis.

📍 Areas identified for partial restoration include:
• Summerstrand
• Walmer
• South End
• Greenbushes Industrial Area
• Tembani
• Sea View
• Portions of Kabega

📍 Areas that will remain without power include:
• Chelsea
• Rowallan Park (Bridgemead, Parsons Vlei, Westering and portions of Kabega)
• Arlington (Walmer Heights, Lovemore Heights and Park)
• Lorraine (Fairview, Sherwood and surrounding areas)

These areas cannot be back-fed at this stage due to network configuration limitations.

Municipal teams are currently on site, and the estimated restoration period is 14 days.

Further updates will be communicated as soon as more information becomes available. The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.

*IMPORTANT NOTICE...*
We’re currently (going on 14 hours) affected by a power outage across Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas. Unfortunately, this is beyond my control and I don’t have an update yet on when power will be restored. This will impact orders due today.
