Yesterday I was invited to be a guest speaker and I deliberately wore the wrong proportions for demonstration purposes.
And this is exactly why the figure analysis has nothing to do with your size, it’s about proportions — the ratio between the different sections of your body and how clothing affects those proportions.
In the first photo, the long pink blazer + shorter navy pants visually cut my body at the wrong point. The result? My legs look shorter and my proportions look more segmented.
In the second photo, I’ve simply changed the length of the blazer — so much better.
(I could also have kept the pink blazer and changed the pants to a longer length that covered my shoe, creating a much longer, uninterrupted line and better proportions.)
Same body.
Same size.
Same shoes.
Just different proportions.
And this is why my figure analysis isn’t about telling you what you can or can’t wear. It’s about understanding WHY something works — or doesn’t — on your particular proportions.
Once you understand that, getting dressed becomes SO much easier.

A quick colour analysis this morning with the most vibrant client.

Being an Image Consultant has taught me many things over the years — but right at the top of the list is this:
Confidence doesn’t come from having the perfect body or the perfect wardrobe. It comes from understanding yourself.
Understanding what colours make you come alive.
Understanding the shapes and proportions that make you feel comfortable and confident.
Understanding your lifestyle, your personality and what you actually enjoy wearing — rather than dressing according to what you think you should be wearing.

And perhaps most importantly, understanding that you don’t need to change your body to deserve to feel fabulous in your clothes.

It isn’t about having more clothes.

It isn’t about following every trend.

It isn’t about being a certain size, shape or age.

It’s about knowing YOU.

When you understand your colouring, your proportions, your personality and your lifestyle, getting dressed becomes so much easier:

You stop buying things that don’t work.

You stop keeping clothes that make you feel uncomfortable.

You stop comparing yourself to everyone else.

And you start choosing clothes because they feel like you.

And that is where I believe real confidence begins.Not with the perfect wardrobe.

With knowing who you are — and dressing accordingly. 🤍

Ladies. Let’s talk ‘Cost Per Wear’. We need to stop buying clothes for the life you think you should have.
If you spend your life in jeans, stop buying your 14th cocktail dress or high heels. We need items that support our lifestyle ( box number 4 in our styling analysis)
Straight legged dark denims are an example of what we should be investing in - their cost per wear will be much lower than an evening dress you get to wear a couple of times.

Friday morning’s talk outfit 🤎

As a personal stylist, I’m always telling my clients that an outfit is about so much more than simply putting on nice clothes. It’s about understanding colour, proportion, personality and how you want to show up in the world.

For my talk on Friday, it was chilly, so I chose these rich, warm chocolatey tones and mixed textures to create an outfit that felt cosy and polished — without being too formal.

Getting dressed with intention makes all the difference. You don’t need a wardrobe full of clothes — you need to know how to make the right pieces work for you.
