To South Africa's young people, the engineers, the apprentices, the operators, the technicians, the makers, the dreamers — today is for you.

On 16 June we honour the courage of the youth of 1976, and we look forward to the youth of today carrying that same energy into every corner of our economy.

To the young South Africans entering manufacturing, packaging, engineering, and the trades right now: you are walking onto factory floors that need your skills, your perspective, and your refusal to settle for 'how it's always been done.' The industries that built this country are being rebuilt and re-imagined, and you're the ones doing it.

At REA SA, we're proud to work alongside companies that invest in young talent: apprenticeships, learnerships, in-house training, real career paths.

The future of South African manufacturing is in good hands.

Happy Youth Day.

Large character heights for visibility on stacks, pallets, and panels at distance
Robust, low-maintenance design built for dusty environments
Flexible ink options to match substrate and durability requirements
Easy integration into existing lines, with intuitive operator controls

If you're at Woodex this week, come see it on display on Nukor Group stand (9–11 June). If you're not, drop us a message — we'll bring a demo to you.

This June, we're putting two of South Africa's hardest-working industries in the spotlight: wood and packaging.

From timber and plywood mills to corrugated converters, paper sack manufacturers, and panel producers, these are the industries that quite literally box, brace, and build everything else. And every single one of those products needs to be marked: with batch codes, traceability data, branding, grading, and compliance information.

Over the next four weeks, REA SA will be sharing what we've learned working alongside this sector, including a stop at WoodEX for Africa 2026 on 9–11 June (more on that soon), system spotlights on the REA JET HR 2.0, REA JET UP, and REA VERIFY, and practical insight into where coding can add real value to your line.

Stay close. There's a lot coming.

Being part of a global family has its advantages.

Every few years, members of the REA South Africa team travel to our headquarters in Mühltal, Germany, to attend the REA Family Meeting. The event is filled with learning, collaboration, and the sharing of ideas between colleagues from around the world.

From technical training and workshops to strategic discussions and future planning, these few days help strengthen our global network and ensure we continue moving forward together.

A big thank you to REA Global for hosting another inspiring event. We are proud to be part of the REA family.

⚠️ Common Coding Mistakes in Export Environments

In export environments, the margin for error is zero. Yet the same mistakes come up again and again, and they’re all preventable.

The most common coding mistakes we see:
❌ Smudged or faded codes — unreadable at customs inspection
❌ Incorrect date formats — rejected by international retailers
❌ Missing traceability data — non-compliant with GS1 standards
❌ Wrong ink for the substrate — codes that fail in cold storage or high humidity
❌ No backup system — one printer failure stops the entire line

At REA SA, our systems are purpose-built for export environments, inks formulated for cold chain and wet conditions, high-contrast prints that scan first time, and local support when you need it most.

👉 Is your coding system export-ready? Let’s find out.

Africa Day, 25 May.

We're proud to play a small role in a much bigger story — Africa's growing manufacturing sector.

From the food we eat to the medicine we trust, more and more of what's consumed across the continent is being made on the continent. African producers are scaling, modernising, and competing globally, and that growth needs reliable infrastructure behind it.

REA SA is proud to support manufacturers across Southern Africa with the coding and marking solutions that turn good products into trusted ones.

To every African manufacturer building, hiring, exporting, and innovating, happy Africa Day. We're with you.

📦 GS1 Compliance Simplified for Pack Houses

Is your pack house GS1-ready?

For pack houses supplying local retailers or exporting internationally, GS1 compliance isn’t optional — it’s a requirement. But with the right tools, it doesn’t have to be complicated.

GS1 compliance means:
✅ Correct barcode formats (GS1-128, ITF-14, EAN-13)
✅ Accurate product data encoding
✅ Traceable batch and lot information
✅ Scannable, high-quality prints — every single time

When barcodes fail to scan, products get held up, shipments get delayed, and buyer relationships suffer. One poor-quality print is all it takes.

At REA SA, our coding and marking systems are designed to meet GS1 standards out of the box — easy setup, consistent print quality at high line speeds, and expert support from our local team.

👉 Let’s simplify GS1 compliance for your team.
